Since that NME date would be a week ending and the chart itself covering sales before the 1 Jan 1956. It also went straight in at number one.

Presumably somebody put December due to the fact that it was in the week ending 9 December chart. However that chart was first broadcast on Sunday 3 December and covers the 7 days before 3 December. At this time the charts picked up new entries fast generally the first week of release. Hence the 27 of November date.

Presumably when the film version was issued in the UK Capitol would have stopped making the other version, thus making it less widespread at least in the UK. I can only assume that it's more expensive because people from around the world (especially the USA) want the film version, which wasn't issued in their own countries.
