Jasper 15th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumDr. Hook And The Medicine Show - Sloppy Seconds | I have the Australian release of this bought through the Australian Record Club as it was at that time CBS cat. SBP 234254 - just looking at an old scrapbook I have with the NME, Melody Maker and Cashbox reviews. MM review (16/06/1973) of the If I'd Only Come And Gone single - "Shel Silverstein's tedious aggregation full of mountain dew strained accents and a plague of finger style geetars. One sometimes wonders what the A&R men are doing wasting so much studio time on this kind of codswallop".

Jasper 13th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Diana Ross And The Supremes Plus | @ Neil Forbes - the rest of the releases were 6. non-stop Honky Tonk, 7. non- stop Honky Tonk Vol. 2, 8. 25 Old Tyme Fiddle Hits, 9.Maurice Bolyer - 40 Golden Banjo Hits and 10. last and probably least Pub Party- "Roll Out The Barrel" would have been an appropriate track on this one as they were obviously scraping the bottom of the barrel with this lot. These 5 albums all had the "Summit - Dee Why address" rectangular box logo as well as the MFP Gold Edge logo on the back covers - don't know what sort of labels - I don't have any of them and don't want any of them.

Jasper 12th Oct 2015 | | Cassette AlbumBill Haley And The Comets - See You Later, Alligator | Painful entering this one - so many mistakes on the track list. Track 7 lists composer as Tuner instead of Turner (as in Big Joe Turner), Track 9 lists song as Shake, Arattle instead of Rattle, track 10 lists track as Ruoy's Rock - should be Rudy's Rock and finally the last track composer credits (Dalls, Frazier) instead of Dallas Frazier. Probably more mistakes that I didn't pick up.
Looks like track 8 composer should be Gabler not Baber. I'm fed up.

Jasper 11th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Diana Ross And The Supremes Plus | Just noticed that GOLD 0004 was Glen Campbell Country - track list looked familiar then I realised it was the same album I have that was released on Capitol Records Australia SENC 9845.
Jasper 11th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Diana Ross And The Supremes Plus | My reference to Motown in the notes was in regard to this album only and not others in the "Gold Edge" series.
Jasper 11th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumChelsea Brown - Chelsea On The Rocks | RC- that would be Jimmy Hannan who had a bit of a recording career himself in the early 60s - from Discogs - his most famous singing success was the Roger McGuinn penned song "Beach Ball" which had backing vocals by The Bee Gees. I think I have it somewhere on a cassette.
I'd forgotten about her appearing on Celebrity Squares and have not heard any more about her for many years - apparently still living in Australia.
Jasper 10th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumChelsea Brown - Chelsea On The Rocks | In case anyone was wondering - yes this is the same Chelsea Brown who appeared as a regular performer in the comedy series Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In in the late 60s/early 70's. She emigrated to Australia in the 1970s and performed in stage shows, had ongoing roles in soap operas and featured in a couple of Australian movies. She released one single in 1977 the Bee Gees composed Love So Right - B side was Party Music and this album which was released in 1982.
Jasper 4th Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Original Golden Hits | Interesting little selection of tracks - good quality audio aided by only 5 tracks per side. Note the back cover has a cat. no. sticker of L15183 which is probably the correct cat. no. for this Australian release but I have entered the cat no. shown on the labels and spine.

Jasper 1st Oct 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumTom Jones - A-TOM-ic Jones | In regard to track A2 - I believe the song is True Love Comes Only Once In A Lifetime - not "Twice" as on the label. Interested to see what's listed on the back cover. I have the World Record Club Australia re-release of this with slightly different tracks.

Jasper 27th Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Beach Boys - The Fabulous Beach Boys | This is one of the better known and more sought after MFP Australia issues. The re-release of The Beach Boys "Pet Sounds". Often mentioned in lists of the worst lp covers. Note - photo provided by Go-Set magazine.
Jasper 25th Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumBuffalo Springfield - Last Time Around | Cat. no. wise it fits right in with the other Axis releases so yeah odd EMI not mentioned anywhere.

Jasper 23rd Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield | The notes on the back of this album refer to I Remember You as being his first yodelling disc - I never regarded it as a yodelling song - just listened to it again and still don't.
Jasper 23rd Sep 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumFrank Ifield - The Best Of Frank Ifield | I have a few of the MFP Gold Edge series these had the gate-fold cover with the actual record inserted from the middle - I hope that makes sense. I have Johnny Cash 1970 (the first in the series), Diana Ross and The Supremes Plus, Simon and Garfunkel and Robert Goulet With Love.
