JPGR&B SUBS ● 28th Dec 2023 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - 25 Chansons D'albums 1963-1964 | Translated from the inside of the cover:
25 years, 25 songs...
The idea for this album came from the photo on the front: a fascinating image of the Beatles from behind that had never before been used on a record cover. While talking with Michel Laverdière, we had fun putting together titles of their songs that would reflect this. It was by taking part in this fun exercise that we came up with the idea of a CD with pieces from albums or B-sides of singles from the group: an original compilation and very different from what is currently on the market. In addition, it could be a magnificent project to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Beatles Quebec this year.
Without further ado, we proposed our idea to the president of the fan club, Sébastien Tremblay, who joined us for the official selection of songs. We then called on Mathieu Lacourse from Studio Bulldog for the remastering and standardization of the chosen pieces.
To celebrate its 25 years of friendly encounters and many more to come, Beatles Quebec is offering this anthology exclusively to all fans of the most famous Liverpool group.
Good listening !

JPGR&B SUBS ● 22nd Dec 2023 | | BookVarious Authors - All You Need Is Love: The Beatles In Their Own Words. | From Richard Joly on his Onovox Facebook page (with acknowledgement):
Monoray has acquired All You Need Is Love: The End of the Beatles – An Oral History by Those Who Were There by Peter Brown and Steven Gaines, a new book exploring the final years of the Beatles through “elucidating, contradictory, confounding and fascinating” interviews never heard or published before.
Jake Lingwood, publisher, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Emma Fingleton at Trident Media. The book will be released on 11th April 2024.
The book is predominantly based on interviews conducted with The Beatles’ inner circle in 1980 and 1981 by Brown and Gaines. They used a small portion of their interviews in a previously published book, The Love You Make (Macmillan/Penguin), but kept the rest as a "closely held secret" Monoray said.
The transcripts, spanning over 100 hours of conversations with the band and their inner circle, cover interviews with key figures including Yoko Ono, Brian Epstein, Alex Mardas, May Pang, Cynthia Lennon, Pattie Harrison Clapton and Maureen Starkey, as well as Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison. John Lennon died while the book was being written.
Brown has been an intimate Beatles insider since their early days in Liverpool, was best man at Lennon and Ono’s wedding, and is mentioned in 1969 track The Ballad of John and Yoko: “Peter Brown called to say, you can make it okay, you can marry in Gibraltar near Spain.” He was formerly chief operating officer of Apple Corp, the Beatles’ financial empire.
Gaines is the New York Times bestselling author of Philistines at the Hedgerow: Passion and Property in the Hamptons. His journalism has appeared in Vanity Fair, the New York Times and New York Magazine, where he was a contributing editor for 12 years.
Lingwood said: “As someone who’s read the vast majority of books about the Beatles, getting an early look at All You Need is Love sent shivers down my spine. Because of Peter’s role with Apple, the access that he had was completely without limitation. And the portrait that emerges of the Beatles and their inner circle, is so fresh and immediate that reading it feels almost transgressive. Everybody is talking entirely without a filter, so they are not only honest but wonderfully indiscreet about themselves and their opinions of each other. There honestly is no Beatles book like it. It’s an essential addition to the canon and sheds a huge amount of light on why the group came to an end.”

JPGR&B SUBS ● 9th Dec 2023 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - Slow Down | Translated from the inside of the cover:
The Beatles' work masterfully illustrates the musical eclecticism of the group's members. They excelled in all registers, both covers and original songs.
If rock and roll was the spark that pushed these 4 young men to embrace the world of music, their culture and musical tastes were varied (skiffle, rhythm and blues, country, jazz, blues, international variety, folk traditional and, of course, rock and roll). The early Beatles learned their trade as a “dance band”. We had to entertain the audience and make them dance.
To do this, these 4 little guys from Liverpool developed a vast repertoire of songs, mainly covers, in all styles, adding a very personal imprint which differentiated them from other groups, whether by the choice of songs or their personalized interpretation.
The Beatles' early records contained several covers that were a hit at their shows. Most of the time, they compared favorably to the original versions and often even surpassed them.
This compilation of covers wonderfully illustrates this exceptional talent as an interpreter of the Beatles. With a masterful sound remastering, these songs shine with new brilliance.
Good listening!

JPGR&B SUBS ● 9th Dec 2023 | | CD AlbumThe Beatles - Slow Down | A new compilation for Beatles Quebec: Slow Down – 21 covers of songs 1963-1964
Beatles Quebec. 2023-02-02
The Beatles Quebec fan club is proud to launch a CD compilation entitled The Beatles – Slow Down 21 covers of songs, 1963-1964. The success of the previous album The Beatles – 25 album songs, 1963-1964 was such that it convinced the Beatles Quebec fan club to do it again with this new compilation.
The Beatles' work masterfully illustrates the musical eclecticism of the group's members. They excelled in all registers, both covers and original songs.

With a masterful sound remastering performed by our friend Mathieu Lacourse of Studio Bulldog, these songs shine with new brilliance. Beatles fans will surprise themselves by rediscovering songs that they have probably already heard and hummed. They will appreciate the energy and vast musical repertoire of Liverpool's most famous band, starting with rhythmic tracks and ending with a remarkable ballad.

JPGR&B SUBS ● 8th Dec 2023 | | BookAaron Badgley - Dark Horse Records | Further description from Burning Shed:
A book chronicling the story of George Harrison's label from its beginning in 1974, through its struggles and on to its exciting renaissance in the new millennium.
With Apple winding down, George Harrison still aspired to help new artists and set up his own label Dark Horse Records. His plan was to release records from new artists as well as some of his old friends, with an eye to eventually releasing his own music. While Dark Horse had an encouraging beginning with a hit single from Splinter, the label Suffered increasing problems, failing to establish itself in the way Harrison hoped.
However, some incredible and varied music was created from 1974 to 1977, including some of Harrison’s best solo material. Towards the end of its initial life, Dark Horse dropped most of its artists and released mainly Harrison’s solo work. Thankfully, since 2020, Dhani Harrison has taken the reins and has made Dark Horse viable once again, signing Cat Stevens and Billy Idol and releasing music from Joe Strummer and Leon Russell.
