scrough 18th Apr 2024		78 RPM Dame Nellie Melba - Chanson Triste / By The Waters Of Minnetonka	Confession: My 1924 HMV annual catalogue says at the beginning 'issues up to 31 Dec 1923' but contains many DA/DB numbers! I've since found out that this catalogue was a later issue, and the final 'Celebrity' section lists new double sided Celebrity issues up to 31 March 1924 which it declares on the last page. Many links to the British Library in the comments here no longer work and all their sounds documents have been scrapped. Must be run by the Tories!

scrough 18th Mar 2024		78 RPM Regensburger Domchor (Domspatzen) - Mariae Wiegenlied (Maria sitzt am Rosenhag) / Wiegenlied (Schlafe mein Prinzchen)	With the occupation of Denmark and Norway in May 1940, these countries no longer could have their records pressed at Hayes. Instead, they were pressed by The Carl Lindström firm in Berlin. Sweden also had difficulties keeping contact with the mother firm, so Swedish issues were pressed locally. There are only a few B series auto-coupled issues, and this was the first to be issued as auto-coupled only. All subsequent issues were also auto-coupled only The first auto-coupled B was 7000-7005 (standard coupling B3799-3804) released in August 1933. The last was 7035-7036 in May 1953.

But quite how we can enter this, apart from a comment like this, needs a lot of thought :(
scrough 7th Jun 2023		78 RPM Sergei Rachmaninoff And The Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra - Concerto No.2 In C Minor, Op. 18 (No. 1/10)	This was released as part of Album No 84. To clarify the two auto-coupled sets - the flip coupled set was DB 7008-7012, and the drop coupled set was DB 7427-7431.
scrough 7th Jun 2023		78 RPM Sergei Rachmaninoff And The Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra - Concerto No.2 In C Minor, Op. 18 (No. 1/10)	I probably haven't explained very well, but the DB 1333-7 set would be played in numerical order, A side then B side, and the titles given have confused you - DB 1336 is the 4th part of the 2nd movement and then the 1st part of the 3rd movement, DB 1337 is the 2nd and 3rd part of the 3rd movement. The term flip-coupled was my own invention, so there may be a more widely used term. To be auto-coupled in any form, the cat number would be above 7000 as in this entry,

scrough 5th Jun 2023		78 RPM Spencer Shaw - Russian Patrol / The Storm	I suspect the Frank Andrews issue date of 1927 is a typo. This entry is followed by: "The October 1926 issues show that the quadrants had been dispensed with in the lower half of the labels." The earlier labels here show these quadrants. Andrews also notes that 'Zonophone Record' became 'Zonophone' in December 1926.
