Strawberry_Lynn 28th Sep 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBig Country - The Crossing | Unfortunately for those who bought the gold on red version of this LP would have found that the record had a blue label. For those that bought the gold on bottle green version - which came out some time later - had a green label, thankfully

Strawberry_Lynn 13th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMElvis Presley With The Jordanaires - A Mess Of Blues / The Girl Of My Best Friend | Is this the 78RPM release in which - some time back - there was some doubt whether it existed or not?
Strawberry_Lynn 9th Sep 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumGene Vincent And His Blue Caps - Gene Vincent And The Blue Caps | Can anyone name me the four Blue Caps as depicted on the sleeve for me please? Presumably, that will be Cliff Gallup with the Fender Telecaster
Strawberry_Lynn 29th Aug 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBilly Fury - Billy Fury | Sorry, my mistake. With only 5 tracks per side (and possibly the LP only lasting for about 13 minutes) goes someway to explain why it was released on Decca's budget label
Strawberry_Lynn 28th Aug 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumBilly Fury - Billy Fury | Madame Streggae: It's a 10" LP
Strawberry_Lynn 7th Jun 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe D'Oyly Carte Opera Company - The Pirates Of Penzance | Frank Chacksfield and his Orchestra LK4231 December 1957
Bill Savill and his Orchestra LK4232 December 1957
I'd guess that this LP (LK4249) would have been released in either December 1957 or January 1958
Strawberry_Lynn 6th Jun 2024 | | Vinyl AlbumThe D'Oyly Carte Opera Company - The Pirates Of Penzance | I've got one of these (the other one). I was surprised to notice that I only had half of the album!
It doesn't have a gatefold sleeve or anything, just two separate LP's, and I imagine it was done this way for affordability reasons. The buyer would have had the option to buy one of the LP's, then the other when he/she could afford it
Strawberry_Lynn 19th Jan 2024 | | 78 RPMLita Roza - Allentown Jail / Once In A While | Allentown Jail - I believe - was recorded more than once by Lita Roza. Therefore, this version will be a re-recording
Strawberry_Lynn 29th Dec 2023 | | 78 RPMLeroy Anderson And His Concert Orchestra - Belle Of The Ball / Blue Tango | Blue Tango is Leroy Anderson's best-known song, yet for some reason, it's listed here as being on the B-side
Strawberry_Lynn 25th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumSlim Whitman - Slim Whitman | Would this upload by Chairman1 be the first issue of this LP? When did the London box logo first appear?
Strawberry_Lynn 25th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumSlim Whitman - Slim Whitman And His Singing Guitar | Annoyingly, the twerp who drew the cover has portraid Slim as being right handed
Strawberry_Lynn 25th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumSlim Whitman - Slim Whitman And His Singing Guitar | HAWKMARTY: Slim was indeed left-handed. The cartoonist who drew the cover on his first LP went and got it wrong
Had the photographer here swung his camera slightly to the left, we would have seen the logo on the headstock of SW's guitar (i.e. the Gibson logo would have been visible and the right way round)
Strawberry_Lynn 24th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumGene Vincent And His Blue Caps - Gene Vincent And The Blue Caps | @Madame Streggae: Oops! Yes, lots more!
Strawberry_Lynn 19th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumGene Vincent And His Blue Caps - Gene Vincent And The Blue Caps | A huge act like Gene Vincent only released two LP's during his lifetime?
Incredible
Strawberry_Lynn 16th Dec 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumBilly Fury - Billy Fury | Strange to see Billy Fury on Decca's budget label. Some sort of experiment, perhaps
Strawberry_Lynn 26th Oct 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumLittle Richard - Here's Little Richard | @PPint. : Exact same tracklisting
Strawberry_Lynn 24th Sep 2023 | | 78 RPMChuck Berry - School Day (Ring! Ring! Goes The Bell) / Deep Feeling | @TeddyBoyDwarf: If it was still undeleted in 1959, then perhaps there's some green-label 45s floating about
Strawberry_Lynn 14th Sep 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumMarianne Faithfull - Marianne Faithfull | It's a bit unusual for an artist to release two albums in the same week, as has happened here. The evidence is backed up by the catalogue numbers
Strawberry_Lynn 14th Sep 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumMarianne Faithfull - Come My Way | Cheap money-saving budget cover in black and white
Strawberry_Lynn 8th Aug 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Ready, Steady, Go | Are those tracks alternative versions of those released as singles, especially recorded for Ready, Steady, Go?
Strawberry_Lynn 8th Aug 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Saturday Club | were those tracks especially recorded for Saturday Club and therefore they are alternative versions of the ones released as singles?
Strawberry_Lynn 31st Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Chordettes - The Chordettes | ' "They're Riding High," Says Archie', so it proclaims on the cover of this LP. However, I don't think that statement is meant to be the title of the album, since it isn't backed up by what it says on the labels
Should be "The Chordettes," in my opinion
Strawberry_Lynn 26th Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumGroundhogs - Scratching The Surface | Photographer:
"Okay lads, into the lake. I'll quicky take some photographs, then you'll be able to get back out again"
Strawberry_Lynn 26th Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Crickets - Something Old, Something New, Something Blue, Something Else ! | Sonny Curtis is second left, and presumably, that'll be Jerry Allison fourth from left, though he doesn't look much like Jerry Allison in this picture!!!
But which one is Gerry Naylor and which one is Glen Harding? I'm sure someone will know!
Update, L to R: Glen Harding, keyboard/piano and Fender-Rhodes piano bass; Sonny Curtis, guitar; Gerry Naylor, vocals; Jerry Allison, drums
Strawberry_Lynn 26th Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumWanda Jackson - Wanda Jackson | Would this first LP by Wanda Jackson have had a British release?
Strawberry_Lynn 26th Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumWanda Jackson - Wanda Jackson | Would there have been a turquoise label version of this, or would it have been issued straight onto a rainbow label?
Strawberry_Lynn 20th Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Country Music Connie Style | A whopping six LP's released by Connie in 1962
Strawberry_Lynn 20th Mar 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumConnie Francis - Christmas With Connie | A Christmas LP released in July? Something wrong here
Strawberry_Lynn 8th Feb 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumElvis Presley - Rock 'N' Roll | @thebluesneverdie: Perhaps the sleeve with the hyphen is proof as a first pressing may give it extra value, though you'd have to pay a lot of money for any HMV issue of this!
Strawberry_Lynn 8th Feb 2023 | | Vinyl AlbumSmall Faces - Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake | I once got a CD, used it as a template and drew four circles with it on a sheet of paper. I then cut out the circles, leaving join parts so that would remain one piece, and folded them until it was one circle, then inserted the CD, but this packaging would not hold the disc in place. A fifth circle would be needed. How did Immediate Records do it?
It would be nice if a CD version could be made of this album and they wouldn't have to use so much cardboard, and it would be nice and compact
