vocalion red 21st Oct 2016 | | CD AlbumJohnny Cash - Johnny Cash Super Hits | Of all the album CD's I encounter, I dislike those that are of a mirror finish the most. Very difficult to obtain a good snapshot without putting yourself into the picture, or getting glare in the photo.

vocalion red 19th Oct 2016 | | 78 RPMJoe Turner - Back-Breaking Blues / Empty Pocket Blues | I gotta admit.....I never would have guessed or even noticed it. What was the reason for the subterfuge? Is this a particularly rare or valuable record ? Why would anybody take the effort to do this ? (just thinking out loud)

vocalion red 19th Oct 2016 | | 78 RPMVan Eps Trio - The Original Fox Trot / That Moaning Saxophone Rag | I thank xiphophilos for the fair and equitable solution to this situation. Also for fixbutte's and slholzer's input and knowledge about these matters. This is an example of just how interesting, (and dare I say....exciting) record collecting really is.

vocalion red 18th Oct 2016 | | 78 RPMVan Eps Trio - The Original Fox Trot / That Moaning Saxophone Rag | To answer your question fixbutte, .... yes. (and) I would imagine that Victor 17677 would be easy to find on E-bay. Again, I was hesitant to enter this display, but I did it to prove a point about the importance of label photos.
vocalion red 18th Oct 2016 | | 78 RPMVan Eps Trio - The Original Fox Trot / That Moaning Saxophone Rag | I have thoughtfully provided a close up shot of the label on the B side. Please note the matrix number stamped under the label. I contacted the L.O.C. about this disc, and they told me that it was either a mis-pressing, a mis-labeling, or both. Upon playing the disc on side B, I discovered it was a mis-labeling. I was hesitant about entering this disc. There could easily have been a claim that I submitted the images from two different discs, and faked an error. However the photos don't lie, and this is why a photo for an entered disc is so important here. The song played back was "That Moaning Saxophone Rag", the label doesn't say that.
vocalion red 9th Oct 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Fabulous McClevertys - Calypso, The Fabulous McClevertys | For anybody interested why there is a difference in color shade between the two photos, it is simply a difference in lighting conditions at the time of the photograph.
vocalion red 30th Jun 2016 | | DVDThe Simpsons Movie - 20th Century Fox | added covers, insert, and DVD
vocalion red 29th Jun 2016 | | Video GameResident Evil 4 - Capcom | In my opinion, the best in the Resident Evil series.
vocalion red 28th Jun 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Tommy | Does anybody else actually remember seeing the movie ? At least I think there was a movie, and I think I remember seeing it.
vocalion red 7th Jun 2016 | | 78 RPMSpike Jones And His City Slickers - Love In Bloom / Blowing Bubble Gum | added side B label shot
vocalion red 7th Jun 2016 | | 78 RPMPhil Harris - The Preacher And The Bear / Where Does It Get You In The End | added label shots, A/B

vocalion red 5th Jun 2016 | | 78 RPMInk Spots - I'll Never Smile Again / (It Will Have To Do) Until The Real Thing Comes Along | Well, the opinion of not having many Inkspots fans at 45 worlds may not be too far off the mark. Every single one of my dad's Inkspot records, I find too depressing to listen to. Only a small few do I find enjoyable enough to tolerate. I always wondered WHY he had as many as he did, when you consider the great jazz selections that were available during that period of time.
vocalion red 5th Jun 2016 | | 78 RPM"Fats" Waller And His Rhythm - Two Sleepy People / The Minor Drag | added label shots, A/B, from what remains of a family member's album.
vocalion red 5th Jun 2016 | | 78 RPMInk Spots - I'll Never Smile Again / (It Will Have To Do) Until The Real Thing Comes Along | added label shots, A/B. Since these discs are numbered, I imagine that they were part of an album set of 4 records, 8 sides.
vocalion red 5th Jun 2016 | | 78 RPMPhil Harris - (I've Been So Wrong, For So Long | added label shots, A/B
vocalion red 3rd Jun 2016 | | 78 RPMCarl Smith - If Teardrops Were Pennies / Mr. Moon | added label shots, A/B.
vocalion red 3rd Jun 2016 | | 78 RPMAbe Lyman - Rum And Coca-Cola / Since You | I don't know what you mean by "der bingle". Name some names. Who is the swooners idol ? I played this record today, and the only thing I could understand from her was "workin' for the yankee dolla'"
vocalion red 2nd Jun 2016 | | 78 RPMLarry Adler - Bolero / I've Got You Under My Skin | added labels side, A/B
vocalion red 30th May 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks 1964-1971 | added side 3 thru 1 labels because of color variants between all shown examples. Also, differences in font, and differences in location of producer and manufacturer credits, in that some are on top of the name "Rolling Stones", and some are on the bottom, between all examples shown.
vocalion red 30th May 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Tommy | added sleeves, # 1 thru 4. added closeup of inside covers, L & R, with back cover.
vocalion red 30th May 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks 1964-1971 | added side 4 variant label and sleeve
vocalion red 28th May 2016 | | 78 RPMAmbrose - Ten Pretty Girls / I Saw A Ship A-Sailing | Here is an interesting record disc, in that on the A side, is the "sunburst" design, while on the B side is the "flat block" design, which replaced the "sunburst" design in the late 1930's.
vocalion red 27th May 2016 | | 78 RPMRay McKinley's Jazz Band - Love In The First Degree / New Orleans Parade | added label shots, A/B.
vocalion red 23rd May 2016 | | 78 RPMMiss Jones And Mr. Murray - The A, B, C's Of The U.S.A. | This is another great song from Ada Jones. Anyone who has an immigrant for a spouse will understand this song.
vocalion red 23rd May 2016 | | 78 RPMHaydn Quartet - Don't Be An Old Maid, Molly / Red Head | Side B is a great comedy song, if I say so myself.
vocalion red 23rd May 2016 | | 78 RPMArthur Pryor's Band - That Flying Rag / Ramshackle Rag | Two of my personal favorite songs.
vocalion red 21st May 2016 | | 78 RPMDixie Daisies - Aggravatin' Papa (Don't You Try To Two-Time Me) / Yes Sir, That's Lazy Bones | Another label design that I will bring up is the early Cameo's. While I like the concept of the red and blue striping, it plays tricks on the eyes trying to decipher the song title. (Again with gold lettering)
vocalion red 21st May 2016 | | 78 RPMPrince's Dance Orchestra - The Beautiful Tango Dancer / Falling Song | In my opinion, Triangle has to have one of the worst label color schemes of any record label. Even when looking at the record in real time, it is difficult to determine what was printed because of gold lettering on a light green background color. Never mind trying to review it on a photograph.
vocalion red 19th May 2016 | | 78 RPMSelvin's Novelty Orchestra - Venetia / In Sweet September | I just have to say it. These early Puritan labels like this are beautiful. As the light is hitting the label, the photo doesn't do it justice.
