Are you sure it is not a mispressed "N" as they (mispressed ones ) are quite common for some reason? Should be from 15 Apr. 1953 to 26 Oct. 1955 = N, with Purchase Tax at a mere 50%. Which matches the release date and probably pressing run of this pairing.

" it does not give a country of manufacture, would it be Sweden or elsewhere. When EMI Was formed was all the Graphophone Manufacturing in the UK merged into the Gramophone Company, leaving Columbia as a Marketing Name (with revenue from Sales in Graphophone ?). I think I might have one or two in that Swedish ring style , I wonder if - particulary given the text in English, if the facilities were used as overspill manufacturing for general UK sales too.

Given the release date there should be Labels with no tax code and a clear T tax code on them ( but were the first releases a 12in under diff cat number ?) Discogs Images fill the missing time with a DT (Double Tax) pressing which presumably would have implied that any T pressings unsold remaining after a year of DT would be quite rare ? Discogs also has a pressing with no apparent tax code (actually two releases with one just showing a nice clear image of the Ave Maria Side

This would appear to be at least a 2 Disc pack or album , as 607-C appears unrelated as such on the flip. Supposedly a five min runtime on Cameo , so is that an edit ( is the Cameo disc a 12in one or are they squeezing 5min a side on a 10in . I doubt 1924 for the recording / issue date is correct for Cameo ?

I think I passed them to Juke Jules if not they ended up in a shop in Wath On Dearne Market

I really should overhaul dad's mono valve amp and find a suitable 1960s Garrard Deck to play through it. ( must remember to check the Impedence of the speaker I use in the amp is the correct for what the output transformer was built for ).

However come the 1930s as radio (and talking pictures) had started to come in there would have been cross opportunities in the fan following of the orchestras. Pre say 1931 would the artists when visiting the local Hippodrome (or whatever) ensure a quantity of discs would be avalible to purchase by their fans - or would it be a link up to the (often in the 1920s the Piano/Bicycle shop that always seemed to sell records as well !) I suppose there would be column inches in local newspapers too as well as selected nationals. In the same way as come the 1940s recycle shellac campaign there was the waste paper drive and I imagine a lot of the catalogues were lost, along with those as dealers closed as they got old and expired. I have said before how much mum lost in WW2 and I am surprised her auntie had so much pre WW2 items given she moved at least three times (for a grand distance each time of 400 metres but she did tend to chuck the furniture when she moved ).

I suppose the likes of Foster Richardson were already stars of the stage and touring reviews and light music concerts.

Given a lot of later double sided Columbia's were marked as 80rpm, would that be their earlier recordings , or an instruction to play at 80 to bring a pitch recorded at 78 up to the more modern (was the change 1930s for orchestras - 1950s for brass bands ?) Actually the arrangement Clara sings I have not heard before (or is it the Alto part on its own from a harmony arrangement ?
