78rpm-maniac 6th Sep 2024 | | 78 RPMHerbert Ernst Groh - Ay (1941) | Post-War label.
78rpm-maniac 20th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMFranz Völker - Das Veilchen / Die Lotosblume (1930) | Record with the red-post-war-label.
78rpm-maniac 9th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMOzzie Nelson - I Still Get A Thrill / I Don't Mind Walking In The Rain (1930) | It looks more like a French issue.
78rpm-maniac 20th Oct 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Tornados - Love And Fury / Popeye Twist (1962) | Wow, what a find. 1960s shellac by The Tornados. Amazing. Are some other tracks by that band discovered as Pakistan-issues, or from other countries like India or Philippines ?
78rpm-maniac 31st Aug 2023 | | 78 RPMColumbia Dragspelskvartett - Fart I Spelet / Hambo Ska' De' Va' (1934) | This is NOT a German pressing. Looks like an US-pressing to me.
78rpm-maniac 25th Aug 2023 | | 78 RPMRay Charles - Hallelujah I Love Her So / Devil Or Angel | If it is a Vinyl-Re-issue, so play it with the vinyl-stylus on a record-player with 78-rpm speed function. It is possible, that the grooves are not 78-rpm like grooves from the old shellac-records.
Old turntables with the 78-rpm-speed function had also a changable needle system with two needles, one is for the vinyl-discs and one is for the old 78-rpm shellac discs. Those needles were different ones, because the cross section of the grooves were not identical.
In Germany the old DUAL-record-players were famous for the use of that function to play vinyl discs and shellac-discs perfectly on one device. Normall-Rille (normal grooves), N was for 78-rpm records and Mikrorille (microgrooves), M was for the vinyl-discs.

78rpm-maniac 3rd Jul 2023 | | 78 RPMSig F Giannini - La Paloma (1896) | Hello whitewhale1965. Yes it is a one-sided record.
78rpm-maniac 30th May 2023 | | 78 RPMCliff Richard And The Drifters - Living Doll / Apron Strings (1959) | Cool. I also have a DECCA-Junior wind-up-gramophone with the special reflector-horn. It plays clear and loud. My modern 78-rpm records are played on my Hi-Fi-record-player made by Thorens Switzerland, or on a portable DUAL-record-player, also with a switching-needle suitable for 78-rpm records and for the vinyl-records.
78rpm-maniac 23rd May 2023 | | 78 RPMCliff Richard And The Drifters - Living Doll / Apron Strings (1959) | Me too. Only an old and scratchy record just to demostrate how an old gramophone works and sounds. I also play most of my 78-rpm records on vintage and modern hi-fi-recordplayers with sapphire-systems, specially designed for the 78-rpm-records.
78rpm-maniac 23rd May 2023 | | 78 RPMCliff Richard And The Drifters - Living Doll / Apron Strings (1959) | Such records should be played on a modern hi-fi-record-player with special stylus for 78-rpm records. It is an electrial-recorded record and not an antique Caruso-record, which is more suitable for playing on an old wind-up gramophone.
78rpm-maniac 19th May 2023 | | 78 RPMWalter Kaluna - By By Blues / Waikiki (1940) | I own the post-war-issue by Walter Kaluna, credited as Hawaiian-Solist: W. Kaluna on the label of the white-blue-label.
78rpm-maniac 12th May 2023 | | 78 RPMLale Andersen - Lale Andersen singt ihre schönsten Lieder (1952) | This is not a real repress, but a re-recording of the famous tune.
The first recording took place in the late 1930s with Bruno Seidler-Winkler's Orchestra. This Polydor recording is a post-war recording made by Werner Müller's Orchestra in the early 1950s. Different recording with different orchestration.
78rpm-maniac 8th May 2023 | | 78 RPMEfim Schachmeister mit seinem Jazz-Symphonie-Orchester - La Cumparsita / Ilona | This is NOT a Grammophon Cinema release, because it has the regular green-golden label for regular releases.
Grammophon Cinema records are special issues for silent-movie-theatres only.

78rpm-maniac 27th Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMP. Amato - O. Luppi (1907) | O. Luppi is Oreste Luppi and P. Amato is Pasquale Amato. Classical singers from Italy.
78rpm-maniac 27th Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMNat "King" Cole - Mona Lisa / No Moon At All (1953) | A cool song, no question, but it is the same thing with some very very common German Elvis Presley LP-Albums on orange RCA-Victor, who also were totally overpriced with that value-system. Totally overpriced, but a cool song. Normally everyone can grab that records for a few bucks. Only a Jerk will pay such a price for that record. Insane.
78rpm-maniac 21st Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMMarlene Dietrich - Peter / Jonny (1932) | That Telefunken-record is very common in case of a Marlene Dietrich record. Sold well in Germany, and easy to get.
78rpm-maniac 16th Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMBenjamino Gigli - Ich Kenne Einen Garten / Liebe Verbietet, Lieb' Zu Verbieten | Wrong cat-nr. Right one is: D.A. 5377.
D.A. numbers are for classical recordings and E.G. numbers are for popular music.

78rpm-maniac 12th Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Beatles - Ticket To Ride / Yes It Is (1965) | Hi mister-tmg. OK, can be possible, that i have watched that copy exactely, but I didn´t get it.
So what. That´s life.
OK, I own a Philippines The Searchers PYE-78-rpm record with a light blue label and with the song Money on it. I bought it in Germany, too, from a guy for lower than 200 Euro.
He also sold other Philippines 78-rpm-records from The String-A-Longs, from Dee Dee Sharp and from The Carrol Brothers, which I also could get for small money. A little miracle.
That guy told me, that he had the big chance in the 1990s to visit the Philippines to do business there with old 78-rpm jukeboxes and with such 78-rpm records. Yes, I´m of the opinion that he was there for the right time for buying such records and record-machines very cheap, but I think today the chance is no more given to grab pristine copies or something like that.

78rpm-maniac 5th Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMBill Haley And His Comets - Don't Knock The Rock / Choo Choo Ch'boogie (1957) | Maybe it depends on how long the negotiation about the individual manufacturing rights for different countries for different releases last, to produce the record for example in Germany, in Africa, in Holland, England, France or other countries.
78rpm-maniac 5th Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMBill Haley And His Comets - Don't Knock The Rock / Choo Choo Ch'boogie (1957) | Hmm, maybe the first release-dates could be variable in various countries.
I think USA was the first or much earliest release of such a record, and most of the other countries, incl. Germany are follow ups. Some of them could release a version very close to the source country, like the USA in this case.
78rpm-maniac 5th Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMBill Haley And His Comets - Don't Knock The Rock / Choo Choo Ch'boogie (1957) | Maybe, a repress can be possible, but there was a very short time between the first and a possible second issue.
Maybe Don´t knock the rock was not as succsessful as the other earlier songs by Bill Haley in Germany.
78rpm-maniac 5th Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMBill Haley And His Comets - Don't Knock The Rock / Choo Choo Ch'boogie (1957) | Yes of course.

78rpm-maniac 5th Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMBill Haley And His Comets - Don't Knock The Rock / Choo Choo Ch'boogie (1957) | Hi Xiphophilus. Hm, not true, because the matrix-manufacturing date is A 7, that stands for A - January and 7 - 1957. In Germany that record was definitely pressed and released in early 1957 and NOT in 1956.
78rpm-maniac 1st Apr 2023 | | 78 RPMBob Crosby - Panama / Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea (1954) | This is NOT a German issue, but a Scandinavian one. Just look at the NCB-copyright inscription on the label. NCB stands for NORDISK COPYRIGHT BUREAU and it is used for issue in Denmark, Sweden, Norway.

78rpm-maniac 27th Mar 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Beatles - No Reply / Rock And Roll Music (1964) | Hmm, are there any early Beach Boys 78-rpm variants on Capitol-records released in the Philippines ?? (1963-65)
78rpm-maniac 20th Mar 2023 | | 78 RPMThe Beatles - The Ballad Of John And Yoko / Don't Let Me Down | Probably made as vinyl 78-rpm 10-inch record as a series for the old Rock-O-La, Wurlitzer 78-rpm speed Jukeboxes.
78rpm-maniac 20th Feb 2023 | | 78 RPMLys Assia - Bei dir war es immer so schön / Bel Ami (1954) | Hi, this DECCA-variant is NOT a German issue. It has a slightly different label-design and it is used a totally different typesetting. Possibly made for Scandinavian countries.
78rpm-maniac 18th Jan 2023 | | 78 RPMHeinrich Schlusnus - Tom Der Reimer / Die Uhr (1936) | Recordings done in 1936, issued with the yellow-tulip-rim-label in the early 1950. A re-issue.

78rpm-maniac 18th Jan 2023 | | 78 RPMTeddy Stauffer Mit Seinen Original-Teddies - Zigeunerweisen (1936) | A special-issue by Teddy Stauffer.
It was a kind of commemorate record for the visitors and guests of the Delphi-Palast in Berlin.
Teddy Stauffer and his Teddies played very often in that historic location.
