78rpm-maniac 13th Dec 2020 | | 78 RPMOdeon-Tanz-Musik - Bo-La-Bo / Over There (1920) | Interesting record. Please let us know the matrix-numbers of that record. Maybe someone can identify that band on the record. Odeon-Tanz-Music seems to be a collective artists-name.

78rpm-maniac 13th May 2020 | | 78 RPMManfred Mann - Come Tomorrow / What Did I Do Wrong? (1965) | Does "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" also exist on an Indian 78-rpm-record by Manfred Mann?

78rpm-maniac 10th Mar 2020 | | 78 RPMThe King Sisters - In Hamburg (When The Lights Are Long) / While The Lights Are Low (1956) | This is an example for a late Capitol 78rpm as a German issue. Capitol belongs with this copy to EMI and no longer to Telefunken.
78rpm-maniac 10th Mar 2020 | | 78 RPMYma Sumac - Wimoweh / Babalu (1952) | Looks like a pressing for the northern countries like Sweden or Denmark. The copyright-inscription N.C.B. makes sure that is a pressing for those countries.
78rpm-maniac 10th Mar 2020 | | 78 RPMThe Beach Boys - Fun Fun Fun / Little Honda (1965) | Yeah, really cool stuff. Very exotic. But don´t play a pristine copy of that 78rpm record on an antique wind-up-gramophone, just play it on an high-end-hi-fi-record-player with 78rpm. THAT sounds great.
78rpm-maniac 18th Nov 2019 | | 78 RPMMonsieur Bravo - Derrière La Musique Militaire (Behind The Band) (1899) | Monsieur Bravo is the pseudonym-name for the french singer Victor Lejal (2.12.1863 - 17.7.1916)

78rpm-maniac 10th Sep 2019 | | 78 RPMEvelyn Künneke - Egon / Mäcki-Boogie (1953) | It looks like a Danish pressing / Danish issue to me, not a German release, but a German recording.
78rpm-maniac 6th Aug 2018 | | 78 RPMElvis Presley - Too Much / (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear (1957) | Hi, the 9000 numbers are Germany-only compilations of single-records. 78rpm-maniac 25th Jul 2015 | | 78 RPMPerry Como - Papa Loves Mambo / Pa-Paya-Mama (1954) | Interesting to see here a German Electrola-78-rpm-record by Perry Como from 1955. Before 1956 the reproduction-rights belonged to EMi-Elecrola Germany for the US-RCA-Victor recorded material. In 1956 the recording-rights went to Telefunken-Decca Germany, and the Capitol-reproduction-rights went to EMI-Electrola from Telefunken-Decca.

78rpm-maniac 29th Apr 2015 | | 78 RPMThe Benson Orchestra Of Chicago - One Kiss / Just Like A Rainbow (1921) | Hi, cool to see the old hornless-gramphone in the Video. I have the same model as German-Gramophon Trademark, is your model the US-Victor or the UK-Gramphone-Model ?
78rpm-maniac 27th Apr 2015 | | 78 RPMJoseph Samuels' Jazz Band - Crazy Blues / Home Again Blues (1921) | Hi Bigbadbluesman, interesting to see the old German ODEON-Issue of my US-Okeh-Version of that Song. In Germany nobody knows anything about US-Blues-Artists at that time around 1920, so the recordcompany Odeon used the inscription Orignal Amerikanische Jazzband (Original American Jazzband). So some German collectionists are able to identify the real Band-names with help of the matrix-numbers, like the German collector Horst-H. Lange with his legendary German-Discography of the Jazz-Dance-Discography of all Germany-Releases from 1908-1958. A cool book with more than 1000 pages.

78rpm-maniac 24th Jan 2014 | | 78 RPMSaxophon-Orchester Dobbri - Ich möchte einmal ein Floh sein / Was macht der Maier am Himalaja? (1927) | These old songs are now popular again with younger listeners because a German singer with his orchestra, Max Raabe und sein Palast-Orchester, recorded that old stuff from the Roaring Wwenties for today's listeners. Between the late 1980s till today, he has released some LPs and CDs. He has also appeared at the legendary Carnegie Hall in New York, and he recorded that concert on CD and on Vinyl.
78rpm-maniac 23rd Jan 2014 | | 78 RPMWolfgang Sauer - The Train / Night Train (1956) | A cool Modern Jazz record, done by German piano player and singer Wolfgang Sauer. He was a German popular music singer and pianist. He recorded some good Jazz records, like this one. Wolfgang Sauer was blind, and maybe he can be compared with George Shearing.
Another example for a German 78rpm record from the 1950 with an original picture cover.

78rpm-maniac 23rd Jan 2014 | | 78 RPMUdo Jürgens - Hejo, Hejo Gin Und Rum (Marianne) / Little Jim, Little Jack, Little Joe (1957) | Hi xiphophilos, some of his Songs had a Little bit a Chanson-character in the melody and rhythm, but that was in the mid sixties. |
78rpm-maniac 22nd Jan 2014 | | 78 RPMFreddy - Sie hieß Mary-Ann (Sixteen Tons) / Heimweh (Dort, wo die Blumen blüh'n) (Memories Are Made Of This) (1956) | Freddy Quinn's megahit from 1956. The legendary two German cover versions of Dean Martin's Memory Are Made Of This and Tennessee Ernie Ford's Sixteen Tons. Freddy sold millions of copies of that record.
Look at the very rare German picture cover for that 78rpm record. In Germany it was unusual to get 78rpm records with real picture covers. Most of the German 78rpm records from the 1950 had company sleeves with the label hole. Some record companies like Polydor, Electrola-EMI or Telefunken used sometimes picture hole covers or full picture covers for some artists.

78rpm-maniac 22nd Jan 2014 | | 78 RPMToots Thielemans Quartett - That's A Plenty / High School Cadets March (1951) | Hi fixbutte, ok, maybe 1951 is correct and not 1950. I don´t have exact recording and release-dates for that record.
78rpm-maniac 22nd Jan 2014 | | 78 RPMToots Thielemans Quartett - That's A Plenty / High School Cadets March (1951) | Hi Xiphophilos, various record-companies used different B-Sides or different catalouge-numbers for foreign Releases, but i don´t know why. Maybe internal decisions by the record-company Managing directors.
78rpm-maniac 6th Jan 2014 | | 78 RPM„Polydor“ Orchestra - From The Rhine To The Danube Part I / From The Rhine To The Danube Part II (1928) | Hi, it is an Export-pressing. The regular issue for Germany has the inscription Grammophon and not Polydor.
