Charlie Chalk 4th May 2024		Book Laurence Cane-Honeysett - Reggae Business (2024)	I've just received some information about this book: The box set was shelved for a variety of reasons, primarily relating to the costs and distribution, although there’s an outside chance that it finally sees release, as all of the component parts were ready to go. In terms of the promo copies of the book, It's thought that there were around 20 copies printed, which were sent to the book's contributors, some record company managers and a few select others. Three test pressings of each of the vinyl releases were manufactured, and possibly the same number of CDRs were created for each of the discs. It looks a great box set - I do hope that one day it appears.

This fascinating story has been assembled after exhaustive, extensive research and includes interviews with many of the key players from defining periods in the history of reggae music.

Over the subsequent half-century it has done just that, releasing many of the defining albums of ska, rocksteady, dub and reggae from artists including The Upsetters, Jimmy Cliff, Desmond Dekker, The Maytals, Dennis Brown, John Holt, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Bob Marley and the Wailers, as well as the hugely popular Tighten Up! compilations. The Story of Trojan Records is a fully illustrated coffee-table book, containing hundreds of photographs, record sleeves, labels and archive material, much of it not seen for many years. It forms part of the label’s official 50th anniversary celebrations, which will include special vinyl releases, a major exhibition at Somerset House, festival takeovers and a documentary film set for cinema release.

A 'behind the scenes look at the entertainment industry as seen through the eyes on Nigel Fletcher and Rob Woodward' to quote their words. Nigel and Rob were the driving force of Stavely Makepeace, Lieutenant Pigeon, Heavy Cochran, and various other guises. Rob also had a solo career, starting out as Shel Naylor back in 1963. The lads kindly signed a copy of the book for me following some work I did with them a few years ago.
