ppint. 16th Jun 2020		aka and originally "the tolkien relation: a personal inquiry" (henry regnery, h/cvr 1968), q.v. first three near-identical printings sharing covers cat#, and cover art (unsigned, uncredited) cover price 75¢ 96pp. including titles, indica etc. refer to indica for absence/presence of indica publishing history lines stating first printing; january 1969 second printing, may 1969 third printing, december 1971 paperback library was bought by warner publishing, becoming warner paperback library: fourth printing, january 1973 cover art (?) cat# 75-646 isbn 0446-75646-6 cover price 95¢ fifth printing, april 1974 cover art by stan zagorski cat# 75-646 isbn 0441-75646-6 cover price 95¢ which was in turn transmuted into warner books: sixth printing, march 1976 cover art (?stan zagorski?) cat# 86-157 isbn 0446-86157-X cover price $1.25 near-identical seventh printing, april 1976, cat#, isbn and cover art retained from sixth printing cover price $1.25 .. 11/1981 unidentified printing, apparently re-set in larger type: cover art not reported isbn 0446-30110-8 cover price $2.25 144pp. including titles, indica etc. (data from locus #251, 12/1981)



ppint. 16th Jun 2020		aka and originally "the tolkien relation: a personal inquiry" (us h/cvr 1968), q.v. cover art by stan zagorski (credited in the warner mmpb editions) cover price 65p 96pp. including titles, indica etc. printed in the usa, almost certainly as a run-on of a 1978 warner books mmpb printing, with card cover and title page slightly modified to include uk information (the final pp. advertising were not usually changed to remove titles not distributed in the uk/uk & commonwealth). the various arrangements for the distribution of uk editions of (some) warner paperback library & warner books mmpbs in the uk were distinctly peculiar, and for contractual reasons some parts of the "catalog" were handled by different uk publishers. (this comment is from another edition of this book)
