23skidoo 2nd Aug 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBob And Doug McKenzie - The Great White North (1981) | As mentioned in a comment for the US pressing, there is an unlabelled track on Side 2 which is just one of the actors saying the word "black hole" (as a followup to the earlier skit). Not sure where in the sequence it is. The US listing also includes a B10 track, Honest, which is said not to be listed either...

23skidoo 21st Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Eh Bien, Dansez Maintenant ! N° 2 (1956) | Based on the style cheesecake art, and the release, one could almost think this was an attempt at duplicating Decca USA's "Music for the Boyfriend/Girlfriend" series of compilations that featured Vargas pretty-girl sleeve art and was sponsored by Esquire? They came out around the same time...

23skidoo 21st Jul 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumAdriano Celentano - Adriano Rock (1968) | Bill Haley fans appreciate this LP as Celentano covers (in Italian translation) 4 Haley classics on this album.
23skidoo 21st Jun 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Best Sellers International (1964) | A google search confirms that the group called "The Comets" on this album is not the same as Bill Haley's band.

23skidoo 6th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Haley And The Comets - 20 Greatest Hits (1982) | A later indexing at https://www.45worlds.com/vinyl/album/lop14016it is a duplicate of this entry. I'll ask the mods to combine the two.
23skidoo 6th May 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Haley And The Comets - Rock With Bill Haley And The Comets (1955) | The label on my copy is the standard red & off-white label generally associated with Quality in the 1950s-60s.
23skidoo 11th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Haley And The Comets - La Grande Storia Del Rock (1981) | Reissue of the live album "Scrapbook", recorded in 1969 in New York City. Shares the same errors as Scrapbook's labels - incorrect titles for Rock the Joint (with erroneous songwriting credit for James Bracken) and The Saints Rock n' Roll.
23skidoo 11th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Haley And The Comets - Collection Or (1977) | Reissue of 1971 Sonet album "Rock Around the Country", but with tracks reordered.

23skidoo 10th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Ten Golden Years: Great Motion Picture Themes And Original Soundtracks (1968) | With respect to the original uploader, I have copied over the sleeve front image from the US edition as it is identical to Canadian pressing. The big difference is the label is black and white and uses the older United Artists logo, even though the sleeve (and the US label) uses the updated logo. There is precedent for this: when Decca Records US adopted a new label style in 1959, Decca Canada stuck with the older design for another 6 or 7 years.
23skidoo 10th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumStan Freberg - The Best Of The Stan Freberg Shows (1958) | With respect to the original uploader, I have copied over the front sleeve from the US edition since it is identical to the Canadian pressing. When I get a scanner big enough to handle LPs I'll add the labels.
23skidoo 10th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumStan Freberg - The Best Of The Stan Freberg Shows Volume 1 | I have the Canadian pressing of the double LP - not surprisingly the cat # is same as the US.
23skidoo 5th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Thunderbirds Are Go! (1992) | Are the images in the correct order? I would think the one that replicates the original album cover should be the A-side, but the resolution on the scan isn't high enough to be able to tell if there is an A-B marking.
23skidoo 5th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Thunderbirds Are Go! (1992) | Extended version of the original soundtrack album released by United Artists Records in 1967 (q.v.) and reissued in 1987 by Silva Screen. Tracks B6-B9 were originally omitted from the soundtrack and instead issued on a standalone EP. I don't know if it's proper to link this with the 1967 release as it's a new edition with extra tracks.
23skidoo 4th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBarry Gray - Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds Are Go (1987) | I remember being very excited at finding this - but disappointed they didn't include Cliff Richard's Shooting Star. Track A5 ("Thunderbirds (Reprise)") sounds like a demo arrangement for the Shadows version of the theme.
23skidoo 4th Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumDavid Lloyd And His London Orchestra - Confidential (1965) | A promo single from this album (q.v.) was dated 1965, so presumably this album came out then. As noted, most of the tracks are tunes inspired by the Fleming novels, in some cases predating the movie themes by decades! Check out the one song actually credited to "James (Jimmy) Bond". I assume that's a pseudonym!

23skidoo 3rd Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Haley And The Comets - The Golden King Of Rock (1972) | @zabadak - After a long long delay in replying, if you are still interested in this info, although they have yet to be indexed here, Discogs has the two original albums showing their original track order. Discography research on Haley indicates these are the complete shows - recorded in a studio for an invited audience - as no additional performances are known to exist from this set (in contrast to the 1969 New York Bitter End and 1974 London Hammersmith Palais live albums which were mere excerpts). The two original configurations can be found here and here. Hopefully someone will index the albums here too eventually (with fewer title typos).

23skidoo 22nd Mar 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - You're A Hook (1983) | I don't know if anyone can answer this unless they have both albums, but the rear sleeve says the Anderson track was recorded at the Nova Convention in 1977 - however the Giorno album release titled The Nova Convention, which came out in 1979, was said to have been recorded in late 1978 (and at least 2 tracks on this compilation come from that record). Anderson performs "Song from America on the Move" on the 1978 recording as well. As far as I'm aware there was only one Nova Convention event so I'm curious (as an Anderson fan) whether the recording here is another performance or the sleeve notes are in error and it was recorded in December 1978 with the Smith and Zappa tracks. Edit: With acknowledgement to the original indexer, I was able to determine thanks to the track being posted to Youtube that it's an edited-down version of the Nova Convention recording (the original segued into a vocal performance by Julia Heywood which is omitted here). So the liner notes appear to be in error in terms of dating Anderson's recording to 1977.

23skidoo 31st Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJackie Wilson - Nobody But You (1977) | Although the label does show (P)1975, is the release date correct? Other sources like Discogs and Wilson's biography at Wikipedia say this album came out in 1976. Maybe there's information available via Billboard, etc. This being Wilson's final album of new material (I believe), it's probably good to confirm.

23skidoo 3rd Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Haley And The Comets - Bill Haley On Stage (1970) | Recorded in Sweden June 1968, originally for Sonet Records.

23skidoo 6th Oct 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Haley And His Comets - Rip It Up (1968) | Reissue of the 1958 Brunswick LP, Rockin' the Joint.
23skidoo 8th Sep 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe "Sleepwalk" Guitars Of Dan And Dale - Theme From Thunderball And Other Themes | Track B3 title "700 Theme" is correct as per label and sleeve. Looks like the makers of this did a song and dance around the trademarks.
23skidoo 18th Aug 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Cosby - Bill Cosby (1969) | For some reason the Canadian pressing was retitled Sports (at the time of writing, the Wikipedia article for this album uses that title instead of simply "Bill Cosby".
23skidoo 17th Aug 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Laurie Johnson Orchestra - The Big New Sound Strikes Again (1965) | Track A4 is likely to be familiar to fans of The Avengers (it was reused, with some adjustments, as the theme for the TV series when Diana Rigg joined).
23skidoo 5th Aug 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumCrystal Gayle - Miss The Mississippi (1979) | Incidentally, the songwriter on the title track is Bill HALLEY not Bill HALEY - do a google search and you'll find many erroneous reports that this is a song written by the 1950s rocker - including a review of the album from a 1979 newspaper I found online.
23skidoo 4th Aug 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Haley And The Comets - O Melhor De Bill Haley & The Comets (1981) | Assorted tracks recorded for the Sonet label between 1968 and 1979.
23skidoo 4th Aug 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Haley - The Legends Of Rock, Vol. 2 (Rare Items) (1974) | Track D2 - Summer Souvenir - received its first-ever release on this album. It had been recorded in 1959 (possibly the last vocal Haley recorded for Decca in the 1950s before concentrating on instrumentals for the rest of his contract) but put on the shelf until this issue.
23skidoo 4th Aug 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumBill Haley And His Comets - Mister Rock 'N' Roll | Likely released in 1969 (same as UK original version) or 1970.
23skidoo 25th Jul 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumSam Butera - The Big Sax And The Big Voice Of Sam Butera (1961) | "Skinny Minny" is actually a cover of Bill Haley's Skinny Minnie, but for some reason the songwriting credit is incorrect; should be Bill Haley, Arrett "Rusty" Keefer, Milt Gabler, Catherine Cafra. EDIT: I just confirmed that the songwriting credit is actually for a song called "Skinny Minnie (Fish Tail)" from 1954, a completely different song. Yet they never corrected it for Butera!
23skidoo 18th Jul 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Fonzie Favorites (1976) | With respect to the original image scanner and uploader, I have ported over the cover scan from the US version as I can verify (owning a copy) that the Canadian cover is identical. PS: The version of Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley is the original 1954 recording, not the 1973 version recorded for the TV show.
