Various Artists - Supercharged Hits (1970)
A slight amendment, with the exception of a couple of song from a year or so either side, this compilation is mostly releases from the year 1969. So technically it's not a true representation of the 1970s, but 1970 is when this album was released and when I first listened to it. So that's the era it will always represents for me

Various Artists - Supercharged Hits (1970)
Review
Just listened to this album again tonight and I have to agree with Lee Wrecker.
In my opinion side 1 is much better than side 2, but overall there are a lot of great song on this album and it's a great representation of the 1970s. If I could only pick one compilation album to represent the decade of the 1970s, this one would be a very strong contender.

AC/DC - Back In Black (2003)
Review
I consider the original 1980 release as one of AC/DCs best albums and one of the best albums ever in this genre and this re-issue is a fantastic copy. I have the original and this version sounds every bit as good, actually it's even better as my 1980s copy now has a few pops and light scratches. The 180 gram vinyl of this re-issue actually feels better to handle than the original. The cover and sleeve artwork are great, the only problem I can find is every version I have seen has trouble with the labels cracking near the centre hole.
Maybe it's a sign of my age and when I grew up but I consider every song on this album to be a ten, Brian does a great job on vocals for his first album with AC/DC, just a shame Bon never made it to this party. Fantastic Album Guys.

Daddy Cool - Daddy Cool's Greatest Hits (1976)
Review
Perfect just what you would expect from Daddy Cool and early Aus Rock. It's a great album with some outstanding classic tracks. It plays very dynamically and gives a well rounded feeling for the music of the time, can't fault it.

Glenn Miller And His Orchestra - Serenade And Blue (1984)
Review
If you like nostalgia and something that I imagine sounds like your in a dance hall or ballroom back in the war years, then this is a very good album. Only a couple of his more familiar and bigger hits, but all the songs on this LP are well performed, recorded and a pleasure to listen too. The record is in Mono, but it actually still sounds very good.

The Beatles - Please Please Me (2014)
Review
Absolutely fabulous album.
In my opinion not quite as polished or sophisticated as some of their later releases, but fantastic and very enjoyable.
This 2014 mono re-issue is hard to tell apart from the original and give you that raw emerging beetles sound in all it's original glory.
Credit to Martin and crew for their outstanding original efforts, but I did read somewhere that this reissue wasn't as simple as grabbing the original master tapes and using them. Some adhesive or something had damaged the originals over the years and left some of the tracks degraded, so this release was re - mastered one track at a time, stellar effort and congratulations to the team that achieved this superb release. Excellent Album in all respects.

Various Artists - Ten Years Of Countdown (1984)
Review
A fantastic album, so many Aus Rock classics.

If you were around when CountDown was on, this DBL Album will bring back some great memories.

I have a few CountDown specific Albums, with the exception of multi CD Albums, this one tops them all.

For someone of my era or who likes this genre, I can't rate this Album highly enough.

Do yourself a favour go out there and buy it (sorry couldn't resist).

Various Artists - 14 Powerful Hits (1972)
Review
This album has some good songs, however most sound like they are being performed by cover groups or studio singers. Most are fair renditions of the originals with the exception in my opinion of S1 - T1 Hot Love, it has so much echo and reverb compared to the original that it sounds distorted. I received this album for nothing so it not to bad, would I look for it to purchase, probably not.

Australian Crawl - The Final Wave
Review
Excellent Album, with a great selection of some of Aust Crawls finest songs and hits.

One of my favourite albums takes you back to Australian summers of old.

Sounds great on the new 180 gram vinyl format, can't hear any difference compared to the original.

The Who - The Kids Are Alright (1979)
Review
Excellent Album with some of the WHO's greatest songs, the Album and accompanying booklet are great. I love the way the labels represent film reels and the spool is decreasing as you work your way through the album. Sometimes I think it may have been a better album if it were slightly more studio orientated and had less talking etc, but other times it seems to add a warmth to it. I would recommend this as a great addition to anyone's collection.

Various Artists - '88 Kix On (1988)
Review
Not a bad album if this was your era, easy to listen to and brings back some memories.
The song ratings are very much a matter of individual taste and I guess what ever memories the certain song bring to mind, a few of them received far to much air play at the time so it's going to be quite a while before they improve in my mind.
All in all a good album and a fair representation of its time.

The Overlanders [Australia] - Tribute To Western Australia 150 (1978)
Review
I expected much more from this album, it is easy to listen to but a bit mundane with only a couple of highlights. I also expected it to have a lot more Western Australian content. If a copy falls in your lap it's worth a listen to, but most of the songs are covered far better by some of the other bush ballad groups. Bit of a disappointment really.

Olivia Newton-John - Long Live Love (1974)
Review
Nothing terribly special, but a honest album with some songs that you don't hear Olivia sing very often. If you're into Olivia and some light country, pop, folk type combo's you won't be disappointed. All in all an easy listen.

Roger Whittaker - Mexican Whistler (1977)
Review
Very clever and talented musician, his whistling sounds like an instrument. Roger Whittaker is well known for his exceptional whistling, baritone voice and guitar playing ability. This is an excellent album for a little bit of out of the ordinary, nice listening. Only downside I could find was that it doesn't include his hit song, (The Last Farewell). Other than that it was a most enjoyable way to pass half an hour.

Hank Williams - Memories Of Hank Williams Sr (1973)
Review
A very early style of country music, slightly depressing at times. But an honest album with a couple of highlights if your into this style of music. So if your in the mood and you've got your cowboy hat on you should enjoy this album. Of course if it gets to depressing you could always play the album backwards and your wife comes back home and your dog doesn't die(sorry could resist the old joke).

Bill And Boyd - Dreamin' 18 All Time Greats (1982)
Review
Bill & Boyd ( William "Bill" Cate and William "Boyd" Robinson).
Easy Listening record with slightly countrified versions of some old classics, as well as.
Santa Never Made it into Darwin which charted at # 2 in Australia and was written by Bill Cate as a charity fund raiser for the Darwin relief fund after Cyclone Tracy in 1974. The duo's other charting hit was, Put Another Log On The Fire, this record has very good renditions of both.
