Scratchy45 12th Apr 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumEno - Here Come The Warm Jets (1973) | Original UK issue on Island with pink rim label.
Scratchy45 11th Apr 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumDory Previn - Mary C. Brown And The Hollywood Sign (1973) | Scans added - apologies for the rather iffy quality.
Scratchy45 10th Apr 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumMark Andrews And The Gents - Big Boy (1980) | Former mid-70s bandmate of Joe Jackson in Portsmouth band Arms and Legs got a one-album deal with A&M too after Joe Jackson became successful. This has a promo label on the sleeve: I suspect you' might have a hard time finding one sold to the public (except maybe in Portsmouth).
Drummer Larry Tolfree later played with Joe Jackson.

Scratchy45 3rd Apr 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Polydor-Stars Grüssen Aus Aller Welt Zum Neuen Jahr | Polydor Germany promotional disc to advertise the global nature of their roster - well-used by Brunhilde, Hilda and possibly others by the state of it. The new year in question of the disc title may be 1971 judging by the titles on it from late 1970.
I was curious about the Rita Pavone track - 45catters may have encountered the delights of 1977s "My Name Is Potato", and this single from 1968 is not yet present on 45cat.
"Nella Mia Stanza" apparently translates to "In My Room", but it's oceans away from the Beach Boys Song of that name. Though it has a tendency to jump mid-way through on this disc, the way she attacks the chorus is quite something.
Here's a live rendition on Youtube

Scratchy45 2nd Apr 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Lionel Hampton Quartet - Lionel Hampton Plays Love Songs (1957) | While the front cover of this is torn, I was able to photograph it successfully. The rear cover I haven't scanned as only about 60% of it remains intact, The Vinyl itself is far better preserved :-)
Scratchy45 20th Mar 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumCan - Ege Bamyasi (1973) | The copy pictured is a cut-out example - bought somewhere in South Wales (UK) in the mid-1970s.
Scratchy45 8th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - Fairytale (1965) | Image from my rather scruffy copy added, Side 1 label not added as circular image but edited, If the edited image hasn't taken correctly, could the checking mod please PM me or amend (don'r want to reset cache at the mo).
Scratchy45 7th Jan 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumCan - Future Days (1973) | On the sleeve, track B1 is listed as "Bel Air" rather than "Spare A Light" as on the label: I've always thought of it as "Bel Air".
Scratchy45 3rd Nov 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumFrançoise Hardy - Françoise Hardy In English (1969) | Scans added. This budget release is different from the similarly-titled Disques Vogue release VRL3025. with only 7 tracks in common, and 10 tracks versus 12.
Scratchy45 5th Sep 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Groov'y Baby (1968) | This is a CBS group late sixties soul compilation, which I'd never heard of before buying. Tracks listed as per the correct label listing, rather than the sleeve listing. Track A5 (The Chambers Brothers' "Time Has Come Today" - here in a 4m 45sec version) was a pleasant surprise . Apologies for the rather blurry sleeve pics.
The title could be a prime target for the subject of Radio 4's "apostrophe guerrilla" broadcast.
Scratchy45 13th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumPetula Clark - The Petula Clark Album (1972) | My copy has a "Woolworth Exclusive" sticker on the front cover.
Scratchy45 13th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumPete Sinfield - Still (1973) | I bought an incredibly battered copy of this with pink sleeve a few weeks back. The K 43501 cat number does appears on the dead wax, but sleeve and labels use a cat number ANTI 2001.
Scratchy45 13th Aug 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumJoan Baez - The Best Of Joan Baez (1968) | May 1959 is the recording date, if you trust wikipedia for background on this release.
It was issued in a number of forms: at some point I'll add a copy of ES 12001 on the American EMUS label, which has a different track listing.
Scratchy45 21st Jun 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumWilson Pickett - Hey Jude (1969) | I'd love to add a pic of the cover, but the copy I acquired yesterday doesn't have a sleeve. The title track Beatles cover and "Born To Be Wild" are great examples of how good a cover version can be in the hands of a distinctive artist, even when you suspect it shouldn't really work. Not a universal rule, however...
Scratchy45 16th May 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumEddie Floyd - Knock On Wood (1967) | A rather literal-minded LP cover of the old school. Artist pictured about to "Knock on Wood".
On the secondhand copy I used to own, someone had scrawled a price on the axe blade in biro.
Scratchy45 4th Feb 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumPink Floyd - Masters Of Rock | My copy - probably the 1974 issue - is identical apart from
(1) Sleeve-printers credit where the EMI credit appears on the issue scanned by gregs78s
(see scan of r/h rear sleeve bottom corner).
(2) Different hand-written matrix numbers
Matrix side 1 (image 69531) = 054-04299-A- -13.153-1
Matrix side 2 (image 69532) = 5c054-04299B//HD 13154-2-Y

Scratchy45 4th Feb 2016 | | Vinyl AlbumIan Dury - Lord Upminster (1981) | Sleeve scans added - please replace if you can as they're not great quality!
Scratchy45 5th Jun 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumRoyal Opera House Orchestra Covent Garden, Hugo Rignold - Carnaval (1952) | "Is this the first parlophone lp?" Not the only Parlophone Cat No, Series, but the cat no. was the reason I bought a copy. Cover scans added.
Scratchy45 3rd Mar 2014 | | Vinyl AlbumErnie Felice With Instrumental Ensemble - Accordion Powerhouse | Energetic jazz accordion - I believe from the early 1950s - and mostly in a swing style. UK issue from the time Capitol releases in the UK came through Decca, with generic sleeve design.
Scratchy45 24th Oct 2013 | | Vinyl AlbumXTC - Drums And Wires (1979) | My copy includes gatefold lyric sheet insert
Scratchy45 30th Sep 2013 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Oscar Peterson Trio - Night Train (1971) | My copy of this reissue has "Night Train (Vol, 1)" on the spine of the sleeve.
Scratchy45 6th Sep 2013 | | Vinyl AlbumJoe Jackson - Will Power (1987) | Described as Will Power The Instrumental Album on the sleeve, That sleeve itself is unusual as all the text (including the sleeve spine text) is on a circular sticker which overlaps front and back of the sleeve. No track listing - this is found on the inner sleeve.
