This album, which is the third Atlantic disc of 33.33 rpm that was issued by Shorty Rogers and his Giants, was the one that the All Music online music guide service website had given a positive review of the type of jazz-styled music that Mr. Rogers had played. Furthermore, Mr. Rogers had composed every tune except Moten Swing of this Atlantic disc of 33.33 rpm.

Even though the first disc of 33.33 rpm (Atlantic 1212) of Shorty Rogers and his Giants was the first that had white characters of a black label background, this disc was also the first disc of 33.33 rpm that Nesuhi Ertegun had chosen to start the new Atlantic 1200 catalog series of such LP discs. However, the second disc (Atlantic 1232) of Shorty Rogers and his Giants was the first Atlantic disc of 33 .33 rpm that was issued after the Atlantic Recording Studios had relocated from 234 West 56th Street to 157 W 57th Street.

Although this is not the first disc of 33.33 rpm of the Atlantic Jazz Series (Atlantic 1200 catalog numbers) thru which the swirl logo appeared exclusively by means of the front jacket, this disc, Atlantic 1270, was the first Shorty Rogers And His Giants disc of 33.33 rpm thru which the spiral fan logo appeared only by means of the front jacket.
