Notes Burt Bacharach is a prolific songwriter primarily of music of the easy-listening genre, who was inspired by his mother to become proficient in playing the piano. A few years later, Mr. Bacharach had become a pianist for Vic Damone, who stated that Burt was an exceptionally talented and classically trained piano player who was ready to professional play on his own. While Mr. Bacharach was off to a good start playing piano for renowned entertainers, such as Polly Bergen and Steve Lawrence, he still had trouble advancing with his career until he was teamed up with Marlena Dietrich from whom Mr. Bacharach had earned major recognition as a composer and an arranger. A year later, Mr. Bacharach met Hal David with whom he had established their composition partnership. their first major breakthrough was the tune, The Story Of My Life, which had reached the top position of the country music hit parade by means of Marty Robbins. After their song, Magic Moments had reached the top position of the UK hit parade by Pierino Como, this was the first time that any composer simultaneously had two tunes that were in the number one position of the hit parades. From that point, Mr. Bacharach and Mr. David had continuous prosperity for at least the next decade. All the tunes of this A & M disc were composed by Mr. Bacharach and Mr. David. Plus, five tunes, Reach Out For Me, Message To Michael, Alfie, The Windows Of The World, I Say A Little Prayer were popularized by Dionne Warwick and What The World Needs Now Is Love was made prosperous by Jackie DeShannon. This A & M disc not only sold very well, but this was the final A & M disc of Burt Bacharach that was both monaurally and stereofonically issued in the USA. Images
