Original issues of UK #1 hits on 12", based on the Official Charts Company listing, as compiled by the British Market Research Bureau (BMRB) for the BBC and Music Week magazine. This chart was broadcast weekly on BBC Radio 1, and also published by Music Week and Record Mirror. The chart was extended from a Top 50 to a Top 75 in May 1978.
