TopPopper 12th Apr 2020 | | 12" SingleThe Smiths - What Difference Does It Make? (1984) | The only time Mozza was pictured on the front of a Smiths record sleeve.
TopPopper 22nd Feb 2019 | | 12" SingleEric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight (1987) | Is there an 'e' in Dominoes, on the label?
TopPopper 22nd Feb 2019 | | 12" SingleDerek And The Dominos - Layla (1991) | Is there an 'e' in Dominoes, on the label?
TopPopper 27th Oct 2017 | | 12" SingleDennis Edwards - (You're My) Aphrodisiac (1984) | What makes this "Tamla Motown" as opposed to just "Motown"?
TopPopper 27th Oct 2017 | | 12" SingleRockwell - (Obscene) Phone Caller (Vocal) 45 RPM Disco Mix (1984) | What makes this "Tamla Motown" as opposed to just "Motown"?
TopPopper 15th Aug 2017 | | 12" SingleThe Jam - 4 Side Affects (1980) | Yeah, I don't find them hard to listen to either. Sound Affects remains one of my faves from the era.
TopPopper 15th May 2017 | | 12" SingleThe Smiths - What Difference Does It Make? (1984) | I suppose so, although they are seen as two distinct issues by collectors, even though the cat number is unchanged. It's a sort-of famous bit of Smiths-ology that the cover was switched.
TopPopper 2nd Jun 2015 | | 12" SinglePaul McCartney And Michael Jackson - Say Say Say (1983) | Were Jacko's legs really that long? Look how far down his knees are!
TopPopper 15th Jan 2015 | | 12" SingleAlexei Sayle - 'Ullo John! Gotta New Motor? (Part III) (1982) | Is this entry a duplicate of this one?
TopPopper 6th Dec 2014 | | 12" SingleThe Beatles - Nowhere Man (2012) | Is this a legitimate UK release? Looks like a boot, or possibly from Japan?
TopPopper 11th Oct 2014 | | 12" SingleRobyn Hitchcock - Night Ride To Trinidad (Special Disco Mix) (1982) | The pairing of Hitchcock with Steve Hillage ought to have produced great things, but this is arguably a low point in Hitchcock's career. An attempt to tap into the disco scene with bizarre remixes.
Note that the sleeve spells "Nightride" as one word, the label as two.
TopPopper 27th Jun 2014 | | 12" SingleWings - Let 'Em In (Special Disco Mix) (1976) | Isn't this Wings rather than Paul McCartney?
(Mod response: agreed and amended)
TopPopper 1st Mar 2014 | | 12" SinglePaul McCartney - Press (1986) | Is this listed twice?
TopPopper 16th Dec 2013 | | 12" SingleBonnie Pointer - Heaven Must Have Sent You (New Version) (1979) | 21126 is different, but not in respect of the timing, as compared to the main image 15038. It differs from that in, for example, in having different copyright/trademark printing.
TopPopper 18th Nov 2013 | | 12" SingleABBA - Lay All Your Love On Me (1981) | Alternative labels added.
TopPopper 4th Oct 2013 | | 12" SingleSamantha Fox - Interview (1988) | Go on, show us!
TopPopper 30th Jul 2013 | | 12" SingleThe Smiths - William, It Was Really Nothing (1984) | I think the green cover is the original. The purple one was a re-issue a few years later.
TopPopper 30th May 2013 | | 12" SingleFrankie Goes To Hollywood - War (Hidden) (1984) | This is listed as a picture disc - but the scans look like ordinary labels. Is this a mistake?
TopPopper 20th Apr 2013 | | 12" SingleDiana Ross - Touch Me In The Morning (1979) | This was the first time the old Tamla Motown label was used on a 12-inch single, albeit a promotional item only. The old label would be used occasionally by Motown over the next few years on certain full commercial releases, all of them re-issues from the back catalogue.
TopPopper 20th Apr 2013 | | 12" SingleThe Temptations - My Girl (1986) | Commercial pressing and white label pressing both added.
TopPopper 20th Apr 2013 | | 12" SingleThe Temptations - My Girl (1994) | Promo item. From what I can make out, this was produced in-house by Anchor and I would guess, given to delegates at a conference.
The cover is a gatefold and inside is a small booklet with sales graphs etc. The long image above shows the back page of the booklet (to the left) and the right-hand card cover ("A New Record From Anchor"), beneath which is housed the record.
Both sides of the disc are the same.
