Guide - Adding 12" Singles

Adding records to 12" Single World is easy and quick, but we ask you try and follow these guidelines.

Criteria

12" Single World is for 12" singles! But other formats are accepted. Specifically any single from 10" to 12" is welcome here, excluding 78s (which can be added to 78 RPM World).

The playing surface of shaped picture discs are usually a 7" single and should be added to 45cat instead.

Is your record a single or an album? Wikipedia states that "any record with more than four distinct tracks or with a playing time of more than 25 minutes is classified as an album for sales-chart purposes".

Images

We strongly request that you also submit an image of the record you're adding. This helps us verify the entry and makes the website more interesting.

Try to find the year of release

If the year isn't on the label then please try a quick google search. Records added without images and without dates can be difficult to verify by our moderators.

Composer Credits

Please add writing credits with the names separated by a comma followed by a space before the next name eg Morrissey, Marr or T. Yorke, J. Greenwood, C. Greenwood

Don't use dashes – , forward slashes / , & or And to separate names even if they appear on the label.

Please don't use ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.

Producer Credits

Enter the names the same as writing credits. Once again don't use – , / , & or And to separate names even if they appear on the label. No need to type Produced By - just the name will do. Any additional label or sleeve information you think is interesting can be entered into notes or left as a comment.

More than 4 tracks per side?

You can enter up to 8 tracks when adding a record. You can add more than 4 tracks per side by changing the track positions eg A1,A2,A3,A4,A5,A6,B1. If your record has more than 8 tracks in total, then note the extra tracks in the "contribution notes" and a moderator will add them later.
