BeggarsRoad, In the guidelines there is a passage explaining it somewhere but usually, labels like Domino, Ace, Charly, Rough Trade, Creation and this one Big Beat (a subsidiary of Ace) are considered independent or boutique UK labels. These labels, particularly in the modern era (post 1980's), may have their products manufactured both locally and in other countries but are still considered UK releases. The Dutch label Music On Vinyl is considered the same way and their releases are listed as from the Netherlands. The link shows a MOV release that was made in the the Netherlands at the Record Industry plant in Haarlem, as are all their records but has "made in the EU" on the label. This is to comply with European law only and does not reflect anything other than that.
In the case of this single it was locally released (not sure where it was actually made) in the UK by Ace. So basically it comes down to - the country of release (intended market) is more important than the place of manufacture. Does that make any sense?

@Lee Wrecker: Clearly states 'Made in the EU' so why UK and not Europe?
