I remember this being played on Radio 1 a lot. And they always referenced the Frog In the Pocket line. Anyone else remember this as well?. Even Tony Blackburn played the B-Side once. H.

 Thanks for the info chaps.

It seems to me then, based on your comments, and in so far as I can deduce it, this is a later vinyl pressing of an earlier shellac 78 (recording) (And the 45) in order to update and preserve the recording in archives - like when a new master tape or something is made - to preserve the recording in it's then current state, but on more modern / new material.

As such, it seems to me personally, to be rightly present here on 12" singles, as the item itself, satisfies the criteria, even if the original recording and any releases may have been 78 / 45 (If no official release was issued after the original 78 /45 issue, I don't think this would alter the facts for this specific item)

Perhaps, if the 78 / 45 issues are on site, best policy would just be to make a link between them in notes for each item, so the 78 and / or 45 pages would simply state in notes that this exists, and here's where you can find it.

But I'm personally happy for this to remain here.

As the issued version of this is on 45cat I think we should move the images to that entry.

It is a single larger than 7" so it can't go on 45cat, and it is 33 1/3 so it cannot go on 78rpm world. This is the correct place for it.

OK dewey70, now I'm thinking this is a Reference Recording of this 1961 release?!? And I now agree with Magic Marmalade and leonard - I probably shouldn't've put this here - but I don't know where 2 put odd pressings like this one?!?

Odd, far as I know Columbia wasn't using that walking-eye logo in '51.

Not smart leaving it here! The oldest date we have on 12" records is 1971....

I think it's OK staying here.

Yeah, Magic Marmalade, I wondered if it should be here also?!? I knew this was released during the 78 RPM era, but it plays at 33 1/3, so I was cautious about listing it as a 78. But I'm perfectly cool with the Moderators moving it there (or wherever Reference Recordings should be?!?) ☺

Should this be here, or in 78s world (playing speed notwithstanding)?
