Ade Macrow 11th Apr 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - The Most Collection (Volume 2) | Volume 1 was obviously the 'heavy artists' and this last volume featured the lighter 'pop' end of the spectrum.
Ade Macrow 6th Apr 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - Donovan's Greatest Hits | I've yet to find a copy without the 'Stereo NSPL' oversticker on the back cover, masking the original 'Mono NPL' printed there - suggesting that issuing this album in stereophonic (albeit 'fake stereo') rather than the monaural format was a last-minute decision.
Unless it was a printing error and all jackets were always intended to be stereo. No mono copies of this disc have ever been listed in Pye's trade catalogue(s) for the year.
Ade Macrow 5th Apr 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - Donovan's Greatest Hits | So instead of it being called, Donovan's Greatest Hits, it should've been titled
The compiler's Greatest Favourites from the Donovan Canon.
Indeed so - or "Donovan's US Hits (Plus Two New Re-Recordings)". Ironically, the new versions of Catch The Wind and Colours would, in a later era, undoubtedly be used as a 'selling point'!.
Ade Macrow 17th Mar 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Ten Man Mop Or Mr Reservoir Butler Rides Again | Note misspelling on label and back cover of Willie Clancy's Fancy as Willie Clancey's Fancy.
Ade Macrow 15th Mar 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Hark! The Village Wait | No insert with this version of the album.
Ade Macrow 9th Mar 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Please To See The King | With additional "winding-up-Tyger-Hutchings" cover of Rave On (originally from 1971 B&C maxi-single CB-164, as final track.
Ade Macrow 9th Mar 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumMaddy Prior - Woman In The Wings | Rollercoaster is accidentally referred to by its original title of Supper Song, when listed against the musicians playing on it in the credits on the lyric inner sleeve. This was either the card inner itself or a paper lyric insert. My copy came with both!
Ade Macrow 9th Mar 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Flash Fearless Versus The Zorg Women Parts 5 & 6 | Maddy Prior and Georgia Syncopator (UK edition) replaced here by Frankie Miller and Supersnatch. Full composer names given too, as against initial-and-surname of British pressing. A 'g' added to Country Cookin' and various '??' and '!' omitted from this version.
Ade Macrow 2nd Mar 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumTim Hart - Tim Hart | Back cover lists As I Go My Way as As I Go On My Way.
Ade Macrow 19th Feb 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumTim Hart And Friends - Drunken Sailor And Other Kids Songs | Front of cover has (presumably originally assigned, before re-numbering) catalogue number MFP 5635, as does spine. Back cover and labels use the new, elongated MFP 41 5635 1 number. Run-out area has the latter machine-stamped.
Ade Macrow 19th Feb 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumShusha • Maddy Prior • Melanie Harrold • John Kirkpatrick • Robert Johnson • Sydney Carter - Lovely In The Dances | Some copies came with pale tangerine-coloured lyric insert, rather than off-white/grey.
Ade Macrow 17th Feb 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - That's Steeleye Span | Spine has 296064-425 as number. Note also that all songs on Side One label have a single 'Trad' to cover 'em all, whereas Side Two appends {trad.) after each applicable song.
Ade Macrow 15th Feb 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumShusha • Maddy Prior • Melanie Harrold • John Kirkpatrick • Robert Johnson • Sydney Carter - Lovely In The Dances | Juke - scans now added, as per your wishes!
Ade Macrow 15th Feb 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Steeleye Span | Note additional credit for drummer Nigel Pegrum on some songs.
Royal Forester misspelt as Royal Forrester on back cover but correct on label.
Ade Macrow 13th Feb 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - All Around My Hat | Some copies had a white bar code background on the back cover, rather than gold..
Ade Macrow 9th Feb 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Sails Of Silver | Produced by Gus Dudgeon
Ade Macrow 4th Feb 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Live At Last! | Some labels misprint the band's name as 'Steeley Span'.
Ade Macrow 1st Feb 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Storm Force Ten | Note how early Side One labels misprinted The Victory as The Vitory. Scanns added of these variations and all other inserts.
Ade Macrow 31st Jan 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Ten Man Mop Or Mr Reservoir Butler Rides Again | The late Tim Hart was responsible for the sleeve notes (and whatever he was smoking!)
Ade Macrow 30th Jan 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Rocket Cottage | Note accidental repetition of credit on label for Orfeo/Nathan's Reel.
Ade Macrow 27th Jan 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Tempted And Tried | The dullest, most unimaginative, no-thought-at-all labels and back cover. When you think of the artistic glories of, say, the classic green/orange butterfly Chrysalis design (sigh).
Ade Macrow 23rd Jan 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - All Around My Hat | Just noticed how the spine has 'All A Round My Hat' on it!
Also, does anyone know the purpose of the mysterious small black star right at the top of the spine (above the CHR 1091 catalogue number)?
Ade Macrow 23rd Jan 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumSteeleye Span - Almanack | Thanks, Hawkmarty. Good to see both sets.
Ade Macrow 20th Jan 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumAlan Caddy Orchestra And Singers - Twelve Top Hits | Just noticed how the top of the spine says 'Golden Hour GH 523'! How bizarre! (Also has LP title at middle ad Avenue number AVE 092' at the bottom.
The British release for Pye's budget-price series was a Various Artists compilation, The Hitmakers Present A Golden Hour Of The Best Of The Beatles Songs. In Germany, it was a Man compilation. I've come across/seen many mislabellings/mispressings before but a 'mis-spining' or 'dual spining' is a first. Presumably a consequence of both being pressed by Pye but still very odd.

Ade Macrow 5th Dec 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - Live In Japan Spring Tour 1973 | Thanks, Graham. Lesson learned and I'll not bother in future. Much obliged!
Ade Macrow 5th Dec 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - Live In Japan Spring Tour 1973 | "Silence is golden....". anybody got a rational explanation for the hiding and removal of images?
Ade Macrow 4th Dec 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Six Montreal Poets | You're right - coming soon. 'pologies for delay in completing the daunting task......
Ade Macrow 4th Dec 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - Live In Japan Spring Tour 1973 | Puzzled as to why all the extras I've added have been hidden? Thought the idea was to have a complete record of any issue? Obviously not, then! And WHY have the two labels I carefully cropped to circles, as per 45 Worlds preferred style, been completely removed? I'm sure some Mod can give me a good answer......
Ade Macrow 28th Nov 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - Live In Japan Spring Tour 1973 | Now added all the extra bits mentioned below, plus a translation of the sleeve notes kindly provided by a Japanese friend.
Sure someone clever can 'stitch' together the images, which were too big to be scanned in one go by my scanner.
And yes, the inner gatefold 'on stage' photograph really is that blurry!
Ade Macrow 28th Nov 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumDonovan - Live In Japan Spring Tour 1973 | Mine came with obi strip, lyric sheet (Japanese/English) and Donovan-cartooned white paper inner. At time of purchase - Christmas 1975 in Virgin Megastore, Marble Arch, London - this was by a long, long way the most expensive vinyl disc I'd ever bought. Albums were still only about £3.50 then and this cost me £25.00! (My weekly wages were only £35.00, to put it into proportion). Didn't regret the expense, though.'
