The first record with the title "Red Blues" is already making me laugh. What is "FT"? Doesn't matter, just curious

Never made pop charts - Aug 26 1944 'Cherry Red Blues' was a "territorial favorite" Memphis, TN on the Most Played Juke Box Records page. Whitburn gave it a number 23 and put it in his book. 2. 'Red Blues' was the no. 3 Harlem Hit Parade record of the year (according to my calculations). It was on the HHP chart for 39 weeks (2nd record on the 1944 most weeks list had 26). I use Billboard's year-end formulas (see Wikipedia Year In Music for 1920-1949), not the no. 1 for most weeks formula that ranks Red Blues at #15. So this was probably Cootie's biggest chart hit of all-time

benchwarrant17 7th Jul 2022		78 RPM Robert Johnson - Phonograph Blues	FYI Vocalion was operated by ARC American Record Corporation up until Dec 17 1938, the day it was sold to CBS. On May 27 1939 CBS incorporated Columbia Recording Corporation. It did not exist before that date. The company ARC owned, and sold to CBS was Columbia Phonograph Company, Inc. So that disc was not made in 1936. "This test pressing was not made in 1937 either" I don't doubt the recording date, it was just pressed years later.

benchwarrant17 23rd Nov 2021		78 RPM Gene Autry - You're The Only Star (In My Blue Heaven) / Mexicali Rose	Dear fixbutte, Autry, OKeh, and ARC fans Furniture Mart Building, 666 Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL Recording studio on the 21st Floor was built by Brunswick in 1929, completed in June. Unfortunately, sold itself to Warner Brothers in 1930, then leased its operations back, until complete sale to ARC Dec 1931. In 1938, ARC was purchased by CBS, which renamed it "Columbia Records" after purchasing those rights. btw I am leaving out parts of the story because A) I don't remember B) I want you to learn to use Google C) too lazy Because CBS (formerly ARC & Brunswick) failed on a clause on the 1930 contract (I do remember, but I'm invoking clause C of my contract), WB repossessed the Vocalion label imprint and sold it to Decca USA. The new Columbia got to keep its catalog, which it re-issued, along with its new recordings, on the Okeh label that it revived to replace Vocalion. Every word I did print is true. If there is any interest, I can provide an incredibly simplified (1-2 parag.) and accurate Autry recording label history for you guys. I will check back in a week or two. All my info comes from years of searching for answers, piece-by-piece, just like everybody else.
