Fokeman 3rd Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Une Soirée À La Font Des Horts | CNRO is the "Caise Nationale De Retraite Ouvrières" and this whole LP was for the launch of the construction of this Côte d'Azur property. The name of the bank appears on the label but the actual issuing record label is the Marseille based label "Spirtual" which had the FSCL prefix to all its records whether 7" or 12" (not counting the few which had just FS as a prefix). Following the prefix is the year of release which in this case is 196(9).
Club La Font Des Horts is still going and its Website advertises holidays to everyone but with cheaper holidays for people who belong to the CNRO club, presumably having worked and then retired in the region.
The name "La Font Des Horts" means literally "The Fountain In The Gardens" which would have given everyone the bucolic sense of paradise to future residents and investors.

Fokeman 1st Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJohn McLaughlin - Extrapolation | "Arjen's Bag" is dedicated to Arjen Gorter, the Dutch bass player. There are frequently errors in spelling his name as Argen, which is wrong.

Fokeman 1st Apr 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - An Flea Ceoil | I think we may need to look at some of these artists. The brackets indicate what instrument they play which can go in notes but not form part of their names.

Fokeman 18th Mar 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBarbara Dickson - From The Beggar's Mantle Fringed With Gold | Sadly anything done by Bulmer was with the utmost lack of respect.
|
Fokeman 16th Mar 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumAj Webber - Of This Land | For anyone confused. Her name is Adrienne or Aj (pronounced Adge) not A. J. Webber.
|
Fokeman 16th Mar 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Folk From McTavish's Kitchen | The Mathews Brothers had a couple of wonderful LPs out in the 1980s. Bill Bracken appears on the Liverpool Folk Festival LP. Fraser Nimmo is still going strong and had a fairly rare EP issued also in 1973. Jacqui and Bridie were big in Liverpool and Jacqui was even an early member of the Liverpool Spinners. Noel Rocks recorded for Celtic Music and Jack Stitt is a very well known accordionist.

|
Fokeman 16th Mar 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumDavid Soul - Playing To An Audience Of One | Track A3 was written by Russ Titelman not Tidelman. He was a bass player and producer too and worked with Ry Cooder amongst others.
|
Fokeman 16th Mar 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumDavid Soul - Playing To An Audience Of One | What with Sneaky Pete Kleinow on lap steel guitar, this was a really top notch band David Soul had with him. Would it be too much of a guilty pleasure to admit to quite enjoying all of his hits such as Silver Lady, Don't Give Up On Us Baby, and others.

Fokeman 11th Mar 2022 | | Live MusicStackridge @ Torquay Town Hall | Why does it say Torquay Town Hall on the tickets and flyer if it was The Rainbow Pavilion?
(now edited, mod.)

Fokeman 2nd Mar 2022 | | CD AlbumAerosmith - Pump | There are a couple of things that hint that it was a European issue. First it has made in Germany written in French. Second GEMA is German but BIEM tended to be in France and elsewhere in Europe. NOT in Germany which used GEMA exclusively.

1970 is False Year. 1968 is OK
This is based on the assumption that the US version had a simultaneous release in the UK; a false assumption. It took two years after the US release for Stable to issue the record in the UK. Note the dates associated with previous Stable releases. Also note the 1970 publishing date on the label of the original Stable issue!

Fokeman 16th Feb 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumCarolyn Hester - Carolyn Hester | I've had a quick go at improving it. Any better?
|
Fokeman 15th Feb 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJackson Browne - Hold Out | This is 100% French despite the manufacture being farmed out to Germany. Many UK records are manufactured in France but UK nevertheless.
|
Fokeman 15th Feb 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJackson Browne - Hold Out | Your labels are on the Elektra label. A different label should, by rights have a different entry.
|
Fokeman 14th Feb 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Coleman Country Celil Band - The Coleman Country Celil Band | See also Coleman Country Traditional Society which also featured Seamus Tansey on flute.

Fokeman 14th Feb 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Coleman Country Traditional Society - Music From Coleman Country | Perhaps unsurprisingly, there is a link between this group and the Coleman Country Ceili Band which also feature Irish Flute [s]{player}[/s] virtuoso Seamus Tansey. See here...

|
Fokeman 11th Feb 2022 | | CD SingleChristy Moore - January Man | It's so confusing when the recording is made by, owned by, licensed by Newberry Recording, yet there is Columbia and Sony Music and distributed by Sony Music.
Which one exactly is the label here?
|
Fokeman 3rd Feb 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumGilbert Bécaud - Gilbert Bécaud (Enregistrements Originaux) | The French issue had "Made In France" written on the labels.

Fokeman 30th Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Bumpers | Universal error on the spelling of Paul Kossoff - Kossof throughout!
|
Fokeman 15th Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumCy, Maia And Robert - On The Scene With Cy, Maia And Robert | I'm assuming that track A4 was attributed to Davy Graham as it was part of the Wizz Jones, Martin Jenkins, Davy Graham canon. It was not, however written by Davy Graham but by Blind Willie Johnson and adapted by others such as Al Kooper who did his version in circa. 1966.

Fokeman 14th Jan 2022 | | CD AlbumFallen Angels [Ireland] - Fallen Angels | Eilish Moore is the sister of Christy Moore and Luka Bloom.
|
Fokeman 9th Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumDiAnno - DiAnno | It's lovely to hear Paul DiAnno's voice. He was an integral part of the Iron Maiden line-up that I saw in the early 1980s. It's a shame that he didn't have the kind of success that IM had without him. He has an excellent rock voice and this album really does him justice; it's not quite as hard as the early Maiden LPs and singles, a little more produced but still good old fashioned NWOBHM from the Midlands.

Fokeman 31st Dec 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumBlack Sabbath - Mob Rules | Is it "Slipping Away", "Slippin' Away" or "Slippin Away"? The sleeve and the two separate labels all disagree on which one is correct.
