The Velvet Underground And Nico - The Velvet Underground And Nico
I think if there are sufficient differences between the UK (Universal and Made in UK) issue and the European (Polydor and Made in Germany) issue, then they should be considered as different. It would therefore be helpful to add the details of the other, UK issue, to the site.

These images are clearly the German/Europe GEMA/BIEM issue, not the USA issue.
(now moved to the European issue. Mod.)

Sonny Terry, Brownie McGhee, Coyal McMahan - Get On Board
It's possible to date this to 1961 from other Ricordi issues and also from the Marconi pressing codes. Compare with 1960 here... and 1962 here...

Also the Ricordi catalogue number refers to 25 (cm=10") and then number 23, dating it to circa November 1961.

Jean Ritchie - Songs From Kentucky
I'm now swaying between calling this a UK or US issue. I think probably it was an entirely US issue? Any thoughts?

I'm certain that this exists as a UK issue. But I'm not 100% sure that the images are of the original UK issue or the issue which Westminster put out in the USA? Or even a later issue put out in the UK using the American pressing?

B3 should have been called Carolina In My Mind but was actually called Carolina On My Mind on both sleeve and label. On the other hand, they also reference Ewan McColl which is another typo. All credits are roughly given in the sleeve notes rather than correctly allocating composer credits to the individual songs.

Miquèu Montanaro - Viatge
My rough translation of "... e La Machota" would be something like "... and friends" or "... and his gang". It is an example of Occitan / Provençal which comes from Spanish / Catalan (or at least shares similar Latin roots) and has many imprecise meanings. Miquèu Montanaro is in the group that plays with Danièl Daumàs on this same label and Danièl Daumàs plays on this LP. Both LPs have credits to the singer and "... la Machota" so they are both in each other's gangs, which seems to make sense. It could also be the name that they gave themselves but it is not found on the internet without it being linked to these two LPs, where it is linked to music.

The first on the label. T 1 indicates that this is the first, as all others on the label, despite a varying number of noughts preceding the number are T2, T3, T4, and C1 (a 7")

David Gray - You're The World To Me
It seems that this was issued as a one track single and then a second issue (part 2) CD2 was issued which generously included a second track which had been recorded live. The difference was the one track had pink text and the two track had yellow text.

I don't think barcode=commercial release is a universal rule. I know of other promos with barcodes.

Helpfully, the label gives the actual date of publishing rather than the date of the original issue on the Hawk label.

There's some lovely music on there even if it's a horrible cheap reissue. The Pickwick (Hallmark) issue came out in 1970.

This is a 1980s reissue. 1970 is the original publishing date.

We already have a version of this. So this is a duplicate. It's true it is a reissue but it has the same catalogue number as the same release which is the original. In this case we usually simply add the images to the original, unless this comes from a specific release at a later date.

I think perhaps the image you uploaded was the image of a record I had already bought. It really is very quick to add a new record, if you have an image of a record that is not already in the database.

Three other clues are the Swedish rights collection agency Inlagg, NCB on the label and the label being printed in Swedish text.

Your edit still showed the A side (so two times the A side). Since I did the original edit, I still had the original in my folder so have been able to correct the error.
Sorry for all and any confusion caused...

It looks correct now to me. Is it ok for others or are there issues with cache?

Chapeled or Chapelet is the Rosary. Obviously an error on the B side since Baradoz doesn't also mean a Rosary in Breton, but heaven or paradise.

Many thanks Han. Please try and show the whole of the label. Take it out of the paper sleeve before photoing, please. It's hard to recreate the missing part of the label.

Thanks Han, so we have 5 variants so far. Any more?

I've revisited all the dates of the 78s and I think that they are all correct now. Which one do you think may be wrong?

Status Quo - Piledriver
It certainly came in a Spanish printed sleeve. The Catalogue Number in Spain was always spaced out and this is what marks it out as being original. It says Stereo 63 60 082 with spaces thus. This is slightly odd because Stereo in Spanish is Estereo.

You've missed out part of the Suite D'Arrée and it seems credited Skai Reel to the wrong person. Can you check the details on the insert. I have a different version which shows the information clearly on the back of the insert.

This label is almost certainly not the original issue. It probably came out first on a solid colour red/orange label.

Just found a blue label copy of this one. I've never seen another blue label on Mouez Breiz. It was probably between the red and the white label and the pattern used was repeated on the white label in almost every detail.

My suspicion is, given the catalogue number and assuming they were issued in some kind of numerical order, that this date is much too early.

I don't think these images of something in Swedish are meant to accompany this French LP. Looks like a complete mismatch. It looks like a discussion of the Bhagavad Gita in Swedish. Difficult to think of anything with less of a link. Just because it was slipped in the cover when you bought (or found) the record, doesn't mean it's relevant.
