LaurenceD SUBS ● 23rd Aug 2024		Vinyl Album Johnny Gunn, Don Ralke - Introspection IV	Sorry for the missing cover; I found this record, which appears to be a test pressing, in a plain sleeve, and bought it out of curiosity. The previous owner had written 'odd ball' on it, and that is a pretty accurate description; this is one strange listening experience - a bit like a series of miniature stories from the Twilight Zone. I'm keeping an eye out for a proper copy of this LP...
LaurenceD SUBS ● 23rd Aug 2024		Classical Item Cantilena, Adrian Shepherd - Carl Friedrich Abel: Six Symphonies Opus 7	The Symphony no. 6 in E flat was originally attributed to Mozart as his symphony no. 3 (K. 18) and listed as such in Breitkopf & Härtel's first edition of Mozart's works. It was later determined that the manuscript in Mozart's collection was in fact copied from Abel's score, with some changes to the instrumentation.

Note the difference in track order for A4 & B1 between labels { 784611, 784612 } versus mine { 3636304, 3636305 }. Playing my copy, the track order matches my labels (and the cover back), so I have rearranged the track listing accordingly.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 2nd Aug 2024		Vinyl Album Buddy Starcher - History Repeats Itself	These were all newly recorded tracks ca. May 1966, including "History Repeats Itself". There was also a Starday LP with the same title (SLP 382) released about the same time as this one. That other LP consists mainly of recycled tracks from 1959-62, except for "History Repeats Itself" which is performed by Minnie Pearl, recorded in 1964.

LaurenceD SUBS ● 17th Jul 2024		Vinyl Album Steve Bailey, Ira Cook, Vin Scully - Dodgers '59	This LP describes highlights of the Dodgers' 1959 regular season, including the best-of-three tiebreaker series against the Milwaukee Braves. I guess that they had a deadline to get the record into stores, because they didn't wait to document the World Series results. A summary of the highlights (all from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum): Side 1: - Roy Campanella Night, May 7: an exhibition game vs. the Yankees, who made a special trip to L.A. for the event. - Giants visiting on June 30: a fly ball from Willie Mays bounced off a foul ball girder, triggering a series of arguments between managers, coaches & umpires. Side 2: - Giants visiting on August 31: Koufax strikes out 18 - Pirates visiting on September 11: Scully is calling the home game as well as providing updates from the Phillies-Giants game at Seals Stadium. Fans in the stands are listening to the broadcast on their transistor radios. When he announces that the Phillies have won, the crowd erupts into cheers. Players on the field are looking around wondering what just happened. - Milwaukee visiting on September 29: Dodgers win 2nd playoff game, clinching the pennant.

LaurenceD SUBS ● 7th Jul 2024		Vinyl Album The San Francisco 49ers - Sing Holiday Halftime	Manlius issued an LP for each of the 26 NFL teams (Quality issued some or all of these albums for Canada). Each team's LP uses the same artwork and liner notes; however the song selections vary slightly for each LP. Jacques Urbont conducted the backing tracks in Yugoslavia; those tracks were then taken to the various NFL training camps to record the vocals. Decca later acquired those masters; Owen Bradley found some of their recordings and released this album.
