LaurenceD SUBS ● 10th Feb 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Dave Clark Five - Coast To Coast | I've added scans from the release with the two alternate track titles:
- A2: "I Can't Stop Loving You" vs. "Give Me Love"
- A4: "What Is There To Say" vs. "I'm Left Without You"
Assuming that it's ok to put them here. The actual recorded tracks are the same.
Oh, the labels also have the "Produced by Adrian Clark" credit.

LaurenceD SUBS ● 10th Feb 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJune Christy - Something Cool | I added scans from a 1960 pressing. The stereo release from that year featured a new front cover and newly recorded versions of the same tracks. The 1960 mono pressing also got the new cover, but contained the same tracks (and matrix numbers) as the 1955 12" release.

LaurenceD SUBS ● 31st Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBobby (Boris) Pickett And The Crypt-Kickers - The Original Monster Mash | Added scans from a rather tattered copy of the version with "Transylvania Twist" as track B1.
The cover states that this LP was also available in stereo as SGP 67001, but I have yet to see visual evidence of such a release.

LaurenceD SUBS ● 28th Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Jockey Short Cuts | Were these selections intended for when a DJ had a couple of minutes to kill before the station break?
Anyway the first volume, if you're interested, can be seen here

LaurenceD SUBS ● 28th Jan 2022 | | Vinyl Album[no artist listed] - Buy Buy Baby | (The back cover (on my copy) is applied upside down)

LaurenceD SUBS ● 28th Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumJune Wilkinson - June Wilkinson And Her Physical Fitness Formula | I'm not going to elaborate on this entry, except to say that I have borrowed the label disambiguation [Los Angeles] from 45cat ;-)
LaurenceD SUBS ● 22nd Jan 2022 | | CD AlbumJerry Lee Lewis - 18 Original Greatest Hits | The first issue (RNCD 5255) has a different barcode, so I created a new entry for that one and linked it.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 22nd Jan 2022 | | CD AlbumJerry Lee Lewis - 18 Original Greatest Hits | No barcode on my copy, but other versions with this cat# do have it, so I have filled in that field in advance. [Mod: no barcode = no barcode]
LaurenceD SUBS ● 19th Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Flying Burrito Bros. - The Last Of The Red Hot Burritos | Added the aforementioned Columbia Pitman labels :-)
LaurenceD SUBS ● 19th Jan 2022 | | Classical ItemVarious Artists - The Divine Tragedy | I don't know when this set was pressed, but based on the liner notes it was some time after Hugh Newsom's passing (in 1978) at the request of his widow (Marjorie Brunton Newsom, who signed this copy).
LaurenceD SUBS ● 16th Jan 2022 | | CD AlbumVarious Artists - Artist's Choice: Elvis Costello | Track 5 "Oh Well Part 1" is actually a shortened juxtaposition of parts 1 & 2, which I had not heard before.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 16th Jan 2022 | | CD AlbumRed Norvo - Dance Of The Octopus | A nice collection of early sides from Norvo. Two tracks (16 & 17) feature vocals by Mae Questel from 1936.
Here is "The Broken Record": [YouTube Video]
LaurenceD SUBS ● 16th Jan 2022 | | CD AlbumEmmylou Harris - Wrecking Ball | This one is very similar to the UK release, except for the barcode. Also there is this information from the disc runout (see image 2860854):
GRACD 102 / DCM Sweden / 10082910 / ifpi L051
So I have entered it as Swedish, though I suppose it was sold throughout Scandinavia.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 13th Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumMontezuma's Revenge - First Run | There's a problem with my copy, the side with label 1 plays the tracks listed (on the cover and labels) as side 2, and vice versa. The thing is that the matrix numbers (FM 76051-A and -B) on the labels match those on the runouts of the corresponding vinyl sides. So maybe they're all pressed that way.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 10th Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumBob Enevoldsen, Marty Paich, Red Mitchell, Larry Bunker, Don Heath - Reflections In Jazz | I'm assuming that the delta numbers mentioned in the notes are also present on some pressings of the original (LP 14) release.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 10th Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumVarious Artists - Jazz Americana | Cover has spelling "Enevoldsen", labels have "Enevoldson"; same as the original SA-100 release.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 7th Jan 2022 | | CD AlbumJohn Lennon, Yoko Ono, Klaus Voorman, Phil Spector, Ringo Starr, Allen Ginsberg - John Lennon's 31st Birthday Party | Kind of like listening to the Beach Boys Party! LP, except that this was an actual party...
LaurenceD SUBS ● 7th Jan 2022 | | CD AlbumJohn Lennon - The Lost Lennon Tapes Vol. 1 | Looks like they borrowed the front pic from the BAG 5073 LP, but the contents are quite different.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 4th Jan 2022 | | Vinyl AlbumThe Mahavishnu Orchestra With John McLaughlin - The Inner Mounting Flame | Added scans from the later pressing (PC 31067). Note that the earlier KC pressings had the A1 title misspelled as "Meetings Of The Spirit", which was corrected to "Meeting Of The Spirits" on subsequent issues.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 4th Jan 2022 | | Classical ItemEudice Shapiro, William Kraft - Lou Harrison's Concerto, Robert Linn's Concertino | I have entered the title of Lou Harrison's concerto as he preferred it: in Esperanto.

LaurenceD SUBS ● 21st Dec 2021 | | CD AlbumThe Cumberland Trio - Lost And Found | Not to be confused with The Cumberland Three... :-)
LaurenceD SUBS ● 21st Dec 2021 | | Classical ItemAaron Rosand - Joachim, Hubay, Enesco: Works For Violin | In this performance, Aaron Rosand omitted some portions of Joachim's concerto. It runs about 10 minutes shorter than recordings of the full score, for example if you compare it with those by Elmar Oliveira or Suyoen Kim.
Rosand spoke about this in a 1997 interview with Robert J. Sullivan: "It's too repetitious. I think I made some judicious cuts in that thing. Because the whole thing doesn't hang together. It has wonderful thematic material but when you rehash it fifteen times in the same movement it just gets boring."
LaurenceD SUBS ● 21st Dec 2021 | | Classical ItemZoltán Kocsis - Debussy: Suite Bergamasque | Also found a NY Times review from July 14, 1985. Adjusted release date.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 20th Dec 2021 | | 78 RPMDeanna Durbin - One Fine Day / Spring In My Heart | Hello Labalius,
The song uses themes from three different waltzes of Johann Strauss II: "Treasure Waltz", "Roses From The South" and "Lagoon Waltz", in that order. I reckon that most listeners would recognize the second theme.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 18th Dec 2021 | | 78 RPMVarious Artists - Western Roundup | I only have the cover for this album (it contained some Harry James singles), so I did the best I could entering the info for the 6 sides. I have not found any scans of the labels as yet; the details might not be 100% correct.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 15th Dec 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumJohn Sebastian - John B. Sebastian | This seems to have appeared some time after the Reprise release, despite its cat number. The first trade mag mention I found is from an ad in Billboard April 11, but it could have arrived earlier.
I presume that it was available until late 1970, when the lawsuit with Reprise was settled, and the MGM releases (this one and the live LP) were withdrawn.
LaurenceD SUBS ● 15th Dec 2021 | | Classical ItemGrumiaux Trio, Arpad Gérecz, Max Lesueur - Mozart: The String Quintets | In addition to review in Jan 1987 High Fidelity, there was this sidebar: "As this issue went to press, HF received news of the death of the Belgian violinist Arthur Grumiaux on October 15, 1986, from a heart attack, at the age of 65."
LaurenceD SUBS ● 12th Dec 2021 | | Vinyl AlbumJerry Lee Lewis - Southern Roots | Added images for variant labels and better front cover (with regards to David M. McKee & scrough)
