@Mike Gann There is some information about the RCA 13-xxxx series mentioned in a discussion thread on the Steve Hoffman music forum. Apparently Mercury had a similar series as well.

Here is the link to the discussion posts about the 13-xxxx series: https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/rca-victors-7-inch-78-rpm-the-format-that-makes-no-sense.883987/

What was the deal with the RCA 13-xxxx series?

Sammy Salvo - Julie / Say Yeah
@ xiphophilos From what I have read, RCA began to scale back its production of 78s records in mid-1957 and was only releasing records that it knew would sell on the format towards the end of their production run in October of 1958 (and was apparently releasing 78s out of sequence in terms of their catalog numbers). The only RCA artists I have on 78 after May of 1957 are Elvis Presley, Perry Como, Jim Reeves, Hank Locklin, Don Gibson, and Sammy Salvo. I have seen a few RCA 78s by Bill Carle, Kenny Ottey, The Ames Brothers, and Prez Prado that were released into 1958 however. Supposedly, Roy Orbison released an RCA 78 in the US in October of 1958 as well.

The B-side of this record is one of my favorites! I think my copy might be the only known US pressing in existence.

Great record! Unfortunately, my copy is very won and has a lot of needle digs, so it is pretty much unplayable.

This Paramount 78 sure went up in value over the past decade. I recall getting my VG copy for only $10 back in 2008.

Very strange record and probably one of the last Capitol 78 RPM releases in Canada.

The Beatles - I Want To Hold Your Hand / I'll Cry Instead
Had the introduction of the LP and 45 RPM record been delayed until 1957 or 1958 (the year stereo records were first introduced) for some reason, then this 78 would have been a reality and about as common as Elvis RCA 78s are today.

@Terence Archer My former neighbor Priscilla, who was born in Ecuador in 1969 and came to the US in 1980, remembers seeing current international hits issued on 78 in Ecuador as late as 1979. I also heard rumors that 78s were reproduced in parts of Africa, China, Latin America, and the Soviet Union into the early 1980s. I haven't seen any regular releases issued on 78 made after 1976 however and don't have any regular releases on 78 in my collection made after 1966.

@W.B. lbl Thanks for the information! It looks like Columbia ceased pressing 78s in the US in June of 1958, though very rarely do I come across Columbia 78s after mid-1957. It is possible that only their best selling artists were released on 78 towards the end of their production. I do know that Columbia continued to press 78s in Canada until at least October of 1959 (though I did hear rumors that “El Paso” and “Theme from a Summer Place” were out on 78 in Canada, which would put the end of their production closer to 1960).

Peanuts Wilson - Cast Iron Arm / You've Got Love
This is definitely one of the quintessential rockabilly recordings. The 78 RPM version seems very rare, as the Canaidan copy that I have and an English pressing on Coral seem to be the only versions that have surfaced thus far. The catalogue number would suggest that it was issued in the US as well.

I am thinking that this was last 78 Columbia released in the US, as I have seen no evidence of any 1958 Columbia 78s made in the US.
