I live a few miles from Grafton, Wisconsin where their pressing plant was located. This was probably recorded elsewhere, they didn't set up the Grafton studio until later. Many paramount releases were recorded in Chicago. I have a few non-blues Paramounts, I will have to get scanning..
Olorin67 11th Jan 2013		78 RPM Paul Whiteman And His Concert Orchestra - Rhapsody In Blue	It's hard to beat this version, despite the primitive recording. If you like this, check out the 1930 Quentin Maclean theater organ version on YouTube. He follows this version quite closely, only he has to do all the parts by himself!

Olorin67 7th Dec 2012		78 RPM Bessie Smith - Empress of the Blues: Hot Jazz Classics Album #4	I got to see hot metal Linotype machines in operation at the Western Minnesota threshers reunion in Rollag, MN last summer, very fascinating. They were using 1890 s Linotypes and an even older printing press to publish a newspaper for the show. If you like old machines, shows like that are heaven. They did have a guy playing a few Edison phonographs also. Did they actually use hot metal Linotype for record labels?
