|
RocknRollArchivist 19th May 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumLarry Williams - Original Hits | It's one of many reissues of first (and unique) Specialty album Here's Larry Williams.
For marketing purposes these reissues were named on front cover differently: Original Hits, Greatest Hits..., but all them are evidently the same album.
|
RocknRollArchivist 19th May 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumLarry Williams - Here's Larry Williams | This LP contains only 10 sides of singles (from 20 sides issued on 10 singles), whereas the tracks A2 and A4 are first issued.
"Dizzy, Miss Lizzy" is same as on single 626 (45rpm), it runs 2:09.
For those who are interested in versions of "Dizzy, Miss Lizzy":
1. By unknown reason the 78rpm single 626 (shellac 10") contains another take of song, running 2:22. This "78rpm master" was reissued in bootleg LP Specialty SP 2225, and its extended version (2:50) was included in double CD Ace CDCH2 1021 (2004).
2. Another alternate take (running 2:44) was issued on LP Specialty SP 2162 (1986).
3. Only 45rpm/LP master is strongly finished by final chord, whereas two other takes are faded-out.
|
RocknRollArchivist 10th May 2018 | | Vinyl AlbumLarry Williams - Slow Down With Larry Williams | It's obviously a bootleg:
1) Specialty did never release SP 22XX series of LPs (only 21XX).
2) "Pub : Venice * HILLART" printed on labels for all the tracks is obviously fake.
3) No copyright at all.

RocknRollArchivist 15th Dec 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumLittle Richard - Here's Little Richard | @caseellerbroek
Thank you very much for your answer.
Nothing strange in my request, as nobody having American or English version did answer until now (I did ask all)...
I'm writing a discography of Little Richard, and the information about original releases is most hard to find.
E.g., this title "She's Got It" has length circa 2:24 on all next reissues of this album (except Ace LP CHA 128 of 1989 having 2:06) and on all compilations. The instrumental ending (15 sec.) omitted in original album (and maybe on single Specialty 584 where the time 2:12 is printed on label) has been restored there from a new tape given by Specialty...

RocknRollArchivist 15th Dec 2017 | | Vinyl AlbumLittle Richard - The Great Little Richard | A side includes between tracks A5 and A6 the track "I'm Just A Lonely Guy", omitted in tracklist, with chatter and laugh. This is the single version of song (not overdubbed) never released on vinyl album.
A1: Little Richard speaks, asked by Gene Nobles: until now released nowhere else.
A2: "The Thing" (aka "Long Tall Sally") take 2, until now released nowhere else.
A3: "Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey (Going Back To Birmingham)" take 8, previously unreleased.
A4: Take 4, previously unreleased.
A5: Unedited master, previously released on Specialty SP-2113.
A6: Version 1 take 2, previously released on Specialty SPS 2136.
A7: Not in 1966, but in 1964. Until now released nowhere else.
B1: From Atlantic session of February 14, 1963, previously released on Atlantic 45-2181.
B2 to B7: From Mercury session of March 1962, released only in 2014 on CD "God's Beautiful City".
The release date is 1981, as stated on back cover of LP in liner note.
There Chas White says: "A book on the life of Little Richard will be published in August 1981..."
It would be a logical thing to write it in early 1981 or at the end of 1980.
And from the booklet of CD "God's Beautiful City":
"1981 THE GREAT LITTLE RICHARD [Demand 0025] (import)"

RocknRollArchivist 5th Jan 2015 | | Vinyl AlbumLittle Richard - The Fabulous Little Richard | I'm agree completely with 78rpm-maniac.
By the way, that is applicable to almost all modern vinyl reissues (especially by Rumble).
