I've added an image (# 1628081) of an advert that appeared in "Blues & Soul" 903 (30th September 2003) that announced that this was being reprinted with extra pages, with the new edition being available from 11th October 2003.
Curious to see that plocky45 posted his comment only yesterday as today, while trawling through my old copies of "Blues & Soul", I reached the edition (B&S #903 - 30th Sep 2003) in which this was advertised as a new release available at HMV (images #1627589 and 1627597).
The adverts give the release date as 29th Sep 2003 and it seems that the whiz-kids compiling one of the ads had the same dilemna as I did when deciding what to put as the image for this release and used their own version of smoke and mirrors to come up with something that combined the covers of the two CDs .... and very nice it is too. The other advert uses the "Speakerboxxx" cover, which is something that supports what plocky45 comments about the Speakerboxxx cover normally being used as the primary packaging for this.

Some sources have this being issued on 7th July 2003. However, I've added an image - #1626055 - for the advert in "Blues & Soul" 897 (Jul 8th 2003) which states that this was already available ... that figures as it was already at #1 on the "B&S" UK Singles listing. Therefore the record must have been released in June 2003 (my guess is on 23rd June but it might have been the 30th). The Advert states that a 12" version was available from 7th July 2003.

I've added the adverts that appeared in "Blues & Soul" 892 (Apr 29th 2003) - Image #1625118 - and 894 (May 27th 2003) - Image 1625119. The B&S 892 advert has this being due for issue on Apr 29th 2003 but the B&S 894 advert has its issue date as 19th May 2003 so it looks like the planned issue date was pushed back a few weeks ... hardly surprising for a project of this magnitude.
If you have a weekend to spare (and I do mean a weekend as the combined running time of the 6 CDs is over 24 hours) it is worth watching, though I think I've only seen it in its entirety twice in the 10 years or so since I purchased a copy.
