Pete Fountain / The Sunsetters - Pete Fountain / The Sunsetters
As Cameo - Parkway Records of Philadelphia were in the death throws they started Wyncote as a re-issue label. It had a very poor reputation for both Cover & Vinyl quality. Why Pete Fountain found himself on Wyncote just amazes me.

Song writers not noted at all on this record release.
I suspect that The Sunsetters wrote their material, they were a very polished group.
I have searched just everywhere for their product writers.

The Sunsetters seemed to have released about 1964-1967 on
Dearborn, Abbott, Heartbeat (Pickwick) and of course Wyncote

Pete Fountain - Those Were The Days
The Inner Gatefold Left was simply a Coral Promo page.
None of the song writers were listed either on the Cover or Label.
California Summer was also recorded & charted about the same time as this album release: Vincent Bell & The Marketts
Puddin' was harder to track down, as this is the only place (to date) where it appears on Pete Fountain Albums or singles for that matter.
Puddin' by Different composers:-
Buie & Cobb 1969
Duane Eddy 1965
Ernie Freeman 1958
Roy Clark 1958

Pete Fountain And "Big" Tiny Little - Mr. New Orleans Meets Mr. Honky Tonk
Sorry about the back cover.
Took awhile to warm to this outing.
Seemed to be a very odd coupling, but after having listening a few times,
really enjoy. A wee bit distracted by the use of STEREO.
Very much a Pete Fountain Album.

Pete Fountain With Al Hirt - Bourbon Street
An interesting record, Pete Fountain WITH Al Hirt.
Al had many RCA albums by this time. His hits include:
Java #4, Cotton Candy #15, Sugar Lips #30, Up Above My Head (I Hear Music In The Air) #85, all these in 1964.
Fancy Pants #47, Al's Place #57, The Silence (Il Silenzio), 1965
Keep The Ball Rolling #100, 1968.
This Album is a Pete Fountain record with Al Hirt helping out.

The Basin Street Six - Dixieland From New Orleans: The Basin Street Six
Oh to own this record, priced at $200.00 I guess I will not see it anytime soon.

Pete admits to being able to 'improvise' before he could read music.
I would love to hear Pete on the Tenor Sax
He was once asked what was his greatest talent, he said "his ear", his ability to pick any note or notes and reproduce them.

Pete Fountain And The New Orleans All Stars - Pete Fountain & The New Orleans All Stars
The cover shows release date as 1962, most discographies show as 1964. The back cover is a generic cross promotion sheet. 1962 would most likely be in original artwork and not release date. Cameo/Parkway for example used stock label blanks with really odd dates on them.
Other Design records had very nice labels.
It would appear that Design was a Pickwick spin off.
PLEASE NOTE: Alternate Cover

Jack Delaney And His New Orleans Jazz Babies - Dixieland Way Down Yonder In New Orleans

Jack Delaney And His New Orleans Jazz Babies - Dixieland Way Down Yonder In New Orleans
This is an odd record.
Pete Fountain's photo on the cover, strictly speaking it should be Jack Delaney.
Whilst Pete plays with the group on Side One, he is only a member of the group.
But the album is promoted and sold as Pete Fountain, unless you read the Label you would not realise the true situation.
Side One:
Jack Dalaney And His New Orleans Jazz Babies:
featuring:
Jack Delaney, Trombone
Alvin Alcorn, Trumpet
Pete Fountain, Clarinet
Chink Martin, String Bass
Roy Zimmerman, Piano
Joe Capraro, Guitar
Monk Hazel, Drums-Mellophone

This is most likely Pete Fountain first record, I would expect that the had cut some acetates, no proof yet.

The Date is a guesstimate from other Guest Star release around the time.
It is a real cheapo re-issue ? label.
I cannot find: Sidewalks Of New York & Diamonds And Pearls on any other release.
Whilst my collection is extensive it is not complete YET, so I may stand corrected.
