As I understand it, this was recorded in the summer of 1952 and released in Japan later that year. The a-side became quite popular; As the story is told, a sailor brought a copy to the U.S. and gave it to Ralph Story at KNX, who played it on the air. This resulted in a flood of phone calls, and a U.S. Columbia release (with a different flip side) was released in February 1953.

BTW on my copy the b-side has the cat no. as "LJ 7"; an error I suppose ...
