Capitol USA 40,000 Series

The Capitol 40,000 series is sometimes called the Americana series, but Americana labels were only used for the earlier releases in this series. The series content, originally only country music, was later expanded to include records of other genre.

Records issued between late July and September 1947 have an A prefix. This can appear either on just one side or both sides. A 57- prefix was used between approximately 40150 and 40250.

Both red and lilac labels were used for the series.
