han enderman 23rd Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMWilhelm Furtwängler Mit Der Berliner Philharmoniker - 5. Sinfonie In C Moll, Op. 67 (Beethoven) (1938) | Electrola Albums - Album numbers for Dvorak's Sinfonie Nr. 5 in E-moll Op. 95 (Aus Der Neuen Welt) are on discogs. Electrola 125 = HMV Album 251 (shown in 2 versions). Recorded 22-10-1934, released 1935.
Electrola Album No. 16 is Schubert's Forellen-Quintet with EJ-354-357 (same as HMV Album 67 with D-1484-87 = D-7176-79).

han enderman 22nd Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMGoldie Hill - I'm Yvonne (Of The Bayou) / Say Big Boy (1953) | De(Non-US) 28685 - This evidently is not a UK issue. Most non-US issues (in many countries) have a prefix. In Belgium & South America the prefix is usually absent, but then the issues are in characteristic series. Non-prefix issues also occur in Switzerland and Austria, but then the label type is quite different, by having a different rim legend (in for ex. French) and always mentioning Decca Record Co. in the golden band above the hole (and below "Supreme Record"). I thought of an incidental Indian release, as known Indian issues have this upper rim legend, but those Indian 78s I have seen are in the F-series and state 'Made in India'. As far as I know/remember, all British issues mention 'Made/Manufactured in England'.

han enderman 22nd Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMWilhelm Furtwängler Mit Der Berliner Philharmoniker - 5. Sinfonie In C Moll, Op. 67 (Beethoven) (1938) | Electrola Albums - I think Electrola made a selection from the UK HMV Album series. These selected Albums got their own numerical series and were released with German covers and (I assume) German inside text.
In the past I have saved a few Electrola covers, 5 of them including DB issues and one with EJ records by Wagner, but usually sellers omit album numbers. But of one album I have noted the number: Electrola Album 31 containing DB-1328-31 (Beethoven, Kreutzer-Sonate ("in A-dur") Op. 47, by "Jacques Thibaud und Alfred Cortot", which was released as HMV Album 86 (probably in 1930). On HMV the album was also released for automats, with DB-7013-16.

I assume it is Swedish HMV (maybe the upper rim legend will make this clear).

han enderman 18th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMCollins And Harlan - Nigger Loves His 'Possum (1906) | Vic 4560 - added label images of 2 later pressings (#3 & 4). By error I first added Victor 17256-B, which has this title coupled with Turkey In De Straw and has the same label type as the last single-sided release. The 17256-B image can be hidden or removed. The music can be heard on archive and DAHR. DAHR reports that take 4 (7 Nov 1905) is on Victor 4560 and 17256, but take 5 (27 Jan 1922) is only on 17256.

han enderman 18th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMJesse James [Blues] - Southern Casey Jones / Lonesome Day Blues (1936) | De 7213 - Added images of:
1) the first label type (#1) (tiny legends; sans serif description at 3);
2) a better copy of the 2nd type B-side (#2 with credit & description in narrow font);
3) 3rd type (#3 block label) A-side (B still lacking).
I have seen (images of) 3 copies with a 1st type label, and all had on the reverse a label of the 2nd type, which is evidently the common edition. Here A #1 & B #2 are from the same copy.

Thus date 1941 is a misreading of 1944 in the upper image (and should be corrected). Considering war conditions, this Swiss copy was released probably in 1945, though the series may have been started in 1939/40 and late 1944 remains a possibility.

han enderman 14th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPMAlbert Ammons, Meade Lux Lewis And Pete Johnson - The 1944 Super Rhythm-Style Series, Nos. 43 / 44 (1941) | Par(Sz) PZ-11015 - The Swiss Parlophone PZ-11000 series contains many records taken from the UK Parlophone R-series, and the labels mention the original series details (like name, year & nrs). Thus the series date on the label is not always the Swiss release date. PZ-11002 has the other titles from the great Pete Johnson session, released in 1939 on R-2717. PZ-11011 & 11018 (Ellington) are from the 1944 & 1943 Series; 11023 (Ida Cox) is 1945 Series No.27/28, 11024 (Ida Cox) 1944 Series No.45/46; 11063 (Billy Banks) 1943 Series No.119/120.
PZ-11089 (Woody Herman) is 1946 Series No.3/4; 11100 (Basie) is also 1946 Series. PZ-11113 (Armstrong) has 2 titles from the New Rhythm Style Series, but not the original Parlophone coupling. "P.Z. 11002" (with aberrant font and prefix) may even have been published in 1939/40. But PZ-11023-ca.11080 were presumably released in 1945.

han enderman 13th Mar 2024 | | 78 RPM[no artist listed] - 11. Bali (Koeta). Gendèr Wajang (1939) | Par MO-105 - I just linked it to US Decca 20125. Sides 1-24 are in this website present on Decca 20120-20131. See here for the list of the 12 Deccas and 2 Parlophones. Maybe the Deccas should be described in the same way as the Parlophone. - See description of the Parlophone Album on discogs, with the original labels (prefix MO without dots). Parlophone Album P-57 contains MO-100-111. There are several printings of the Parlophone labels. The Decca records can be seen and HEARD on cdbpdx.
The complete original release was on German Odeon in Album Musik des Orients, but also on German Parlophon. Both series with irregular numbering; for ex. No.1 & 24 (Japan & Tunis) on Par B-37034 & 37037. Here is a German Album on discogs with Odeon & Parlophon records of different size, and a copy of the album booklet.
I have added No.11-12 Bali on Od O-4492 to show the (presumably) orig. issue. Od O-4493 has No.13-14 (Bali), but O-4491 has No.7 China & 8 Java.
In the Notes, 'Cat No.' should be replaced by 'matrix'.
