han enderman 24th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMRalph Tefferteller - Sugar In My Coffee-O / Hell Broke Lose In Georgia | Kismet 146 - added a cleaner copy of the red A-side, which is the original pressing and can be moved up.
han enderman 23rd Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMLemeseff - Goluboi Konvert (Blue Envelope) / Moia Lobimaya (My Beloved) | Kismet 207 - A-side image added. - Good images on discogs.
han enderman 22nd Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMEnrico Caruso - Crucifixus / Libiamo Ne' Lieti Calici (1924) | HMV DJ-100 - "In December 1924 the DJ, DK, DL, DM, DO, DQ, DR, and DS double-sided series were introduced containing recordings of various celebrities." (from the HMV Biography.) - So the date can be corrected. [Done. mod] - The Bolig-Milmo Celebrity Series discography mentions in the Contents the subject of each series. DJ is 10" reissues (general).

han enderman 22nd Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMBaltimore Bell Hops - Hot And Anxious (Ardiente Y Ansioso) / Comin' And Going (Yendo Y Viniendo) (1931) | Co 2449-D - images of West Coast labels added.
han enderman 21st Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMManny Kline - Ringside Table For Two / I'm In Love (1936) | Br 7605 - A-side added. All 4 titles from this session from "The Palm Island Casino Revue".
han enderman 21st Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMEdmond Clement And Marcel Journet - Au Fond Du Temple Saint / O Viens, Mon Doux Berger (1924) | HMV DK-105 - The HMV 1928 catalogue lists many Caruso recordings in the DA/DB-series, but also as early issues in other series, like DJ-100, DK-103, DM/DO/DQ-100. Caruso is listed in the "Red Label Section: A Library of Great Music, performed by Artists of International Fame". "This Section contains all (Double-/Single-sided) Celebrity Records" issued up to and including 31-12-1927. Then follows a list of these "International Celebrity Artists". Thus the DK series is only one of the special series. Last section of the 1928 cat is "Catalogue No. 2: Records of Unique and Historic Interest", which includes "many famous figures" in recordings "from early days" with recording dates from 1900-1922 (including Churchill speeches). HMV DK-105 is included with dates 1912/1915. So the intention of so many small opera series is not yet clear, but these are domestic releases. These series also occur on Italian Disco Grammofono (are these the original issues?).

han enderman 21st Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMPepik Mach: Jeho Kralova Cardasova Orchestra - Slovak Czardas Medley (Part 1) / Slovak Czardas Medley (Part 2) (1948) | Continental 100 - image added of later variant of A-side (#2). Probably there are 3 label variants, just as described for 101. The original labels (#1), with the titles in lower case, are in discogs. Composer P.D. Vich mentioned on #1, Gabor on #2. This #2 A-side has the title in narrow font, and thus is similar to 101 #3.

han enderman 21st Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMPepik Mach: Jeho Kralova Cardasova Orchestra - Old Country Czardases (Part 1) / Old Country Czardases (Part 2) (1948) | Continental 101 - label variant added with the title in lower case. This is the original issue (#1). Note that #1 mentions composer P.D. Vich, who is replaced on variant #2 by Arr. D.H. Gabor. And then I saw that the images on archive (where the music can be heard) are a 3rd variant, with the upper case titles in narrow font, and with B-side composer V. Horton (can you follow it?).

han enderman 20th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMViola Bartlette - Out Bound Train Blues / You Don't Mean Me No Good (1926) | Thanks !! - It now looks like the egg of the Paramount eagle. But the uncommon composer's name can be read. We see here that when a record is really rare, a seller makes only one problematic picture or two bad ones.
han enderman 20th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMKlien Tindull Paramount Serenaders - So Is Your Old Man / Down On The Amazon (1926) | Pm 12377 - label images and composer Tindull added.

han enderman 20th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPM"Ma" Rainey With Her Georgia Band - Broken Hearted Blues / Jealousy Blues (1926) | Pm 12364 - label images added of orig. purple issue, and of later black label A-side. Images of both black labels are presented by John Tefteller and copied on discogs.
han enderman 20th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMViola Bartlette - Out Bound Train Blues / You Don't Mean Me No Good (1926) | Pm 12363 - label images added (low quality). Very small images on discogs. - A good, but slightly misformed B-side image added from popsike.

han enderman 20th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMIda Cox - I'm Leaving Here Blues / Trouble Trouble Blues (1926) | Pm 12344 - label images added.
han enderman 20th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMVictor Salon Orchestra - Apache Dance / La Golondrina (The Swallow) (1928) | Vic 21055 - I think the added word is an order code, to avoid errors or difficult-to-read catnrs or long artist+title descriptions, or at least it confirms the cat.nr. Or Victor used it to mail the correct records from its magazines. - The cross index mentions records with the same tune.
han enderman 20th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMIsham Jones Orchestra - Think Of Me / Play The Funny Blues (1923) | Br 2374 - I have saved images with these dealer stamps when I saw them on (mainly) ebay. They are occasionally found with other labels and then omit the ☆Licensed Brunswick Dealer☆ statement. I have lower/upper texts:
OK 40517 - Licensed OKeh dealer / Arcadia Book & Music Store, ..., Arcadia, Florida
Co A-5426 - Chicago, Illinois / Sold by Wade-Twichell Co., 311 So. Wabash Ave.
PA 020547 - Pianos & Music Rolls / Charles Wolf, 115 N. Cicero Ave., Tel. Austin 2084
In the Brunswick main popular series (2000-) I have them in range 2008-2420, 2766, 5000-5185.
In other series on 10037, 13019, 35000, 30022, 40001, 50011.
Not in Br 100, 7000 series.
Locations are Phoenix, Arizona; Los Angeles; San Diego; Ft. Worth, Texas; Minot, N. An ad "Free advertising for wide awake dealers" is in TMW Nov 1922, showing as example Br 2264. I'll upload it here, to illustrate the discussion.

han enderman 19th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMMaggie Jones - Four Flushing Papa (What Kind Of Man Is You) / Jealous Mamma Blues (1924) | Co 14044-D - I have seen label images of 5 copies of this record, all with this later label type, though her next record 14047-D, released 3 weeks later, exists with the earlier type.
han enderman 19th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMMaggie Jones - Box Car Blues / Western Union Blues (1924) | Co 14047-D - images of orig. label type added (should be moved up)

han enderman 18th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMEric Winstone - Fanfare Boogie / Slow Joe (1955) | Polygon 1153 - images added from archive, where the music is available for listening or download.
han enderman 18th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMReggie Goff - Bridge Of Sighs / I'll Always Love You (1953) | Polygon 1074 - A-side image added (mediocre); composer is probably B. Reid.
han enderman 18th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMJimmy Young - Vanity / Only Fools (1951) | Polygon 1017 - images of orig. issue added (to be moved up), from archive, where the music can be heard. - Release date gives the recording date (see comment by xiphophilos).
han enderman 18th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMJan Rosol - La Ronde De L'Amour (Love's Roundabout) / Melancolie (1951) | Polygon 1014 - images of orig. issue added, from archive, where the music can be heard. - (Of the later release, the B side is erroneously present twice).
han enderman 18th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMPetula Clark - You're The Sweetest In The Land / You Are My True Love (1951) | Polygon 1002 - Considering the ad from The Gramophone Dec 1950, plus xiphophilos' comment, the release date seems to be Dec 1950, not Jan 1951 (Dec 1950 was the start date of the label, acc. to Michael Thomas). The ad also indicates the A/B order, I think, which if I'm correct can be corrected.
han enderman 18th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMLouis Prima And Keely Smith - Oh Babe! / Piccolina Lena (1950) | Polygon 1001 - label images added. See P1002 for ad in Gramophone Dec 1950. - Michael Thomas gives a listing of Polygon records.
han enderman 18th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMGid Tanner And George Riley Puckett - Black Eyed Susie / Alabama Gal, Give The Fiddler A Dram (1924) | Co 119-D - There are 2 label types, differing in the 1st line of the bottom legend; the later type has the long line ending with "INC." - Images added of #1 B & #2 A (should be reorganized).
han enderman 17th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMCarl Fenton's Orchestra - Doll Dance / Delirium (1927) | Br 3519 - images of 1st & 2nd West Coast pressing added.
han enderman 14th Jun 2024 | | 78 RPMLouis Armstrong And His Hot Five - Gut Bucket Blues / Yes! I'm In The Barrel (1926) | OK 8261 - This is the first record issued under Armstrong's name. An image of a 1-sided OKeh test of the B-side was published by Jas Obrecht in Victrola & 78 Journal 4 p.15 (all 13 nrs of this 1990s magazine are on archive). Late 2005 the record was auctioned by Obrecht and I saved his scan and description. As the information is not elsewhere available, I have added it here. - Remarkable that all reissues of this OK are dubs (as shown in Rust).
