Johnny Gentle - Wendy / Boys And Girls (Were Meant For Each Other) (1959)
I suspect the sale price of £298 is an outlier, as the 78 has previously sold for more like £50-60. Even with a minor Beatles connection!

Could this be the same person as the Johnnie Francis on Decca the previous year?

Rikki Henderson - Stay / Are You Lonesome Tonight? (1961)
Yes, that’s true. With Embassy following the latest chart hits, their releases were probably a lot more “last-minute”, being rushed out as and when required. But I’m not sure there’s any record of the exact release dates?

Rikki Henderson - Stay / Are You Lonesome Tonight? (1961)
But both this and WB 433 were released in January 1961. The preceding 78, WB 431, also has a date of January 1961. Numerically, the Steve Stannard 78 was last. Without an exact date of release for these three issues, how do we know which one was last? Surely all three have an equal claim to being the last Embassy 78?

I wonder if the lack of exact dates for Embassy singles means the company were still issuing them in monthly batches up until their demise in 1965. Other UK labels appear to have been releasing new 45s every week in the 1960s. It would be interesting to know if or when the different companies switched to weekly releases.

The backing chorus on the A-side is apparently The Johnston Singers (some relation to The Johnston Brothers, maybe?).

Ivor Moreton And Dave Kaye - Fox Trot Medley (1936)
An interesting one - I think the black labels were earlier than the purple variant, but I can't say for sure. This 78 was in the catalogue for over eight years. It's hard to tell if and when the label colours changed in the mid-30s.

Harry Roy's Tiger-Ragamuffins - Sweet Sue, Just You / Heebie Jeebies (1934)
There's a brief vocal refrain at the start of Rockin' Chair, which I assume is by Ivor Moreton. British Dance Bands on Record says that the record has the usual personnel for the Tiger Ragamuffins, with Arthur Calkin on string bass and Joe Daniels on drums.

Ivor Moreton And Dave Kaye - Tin Pan Alley Medley No. 97 / Tin Pan Alley Medley No. 97 (1953)
It's interesting to compare the "Tin Pan Alley" medley titles to what actually made the contemporary charts. The NME chart had started in November 1952, and the sheet music chart had been going for some years. "Comes a-long a love" made the record and sheet music charts. "Take me in your arms and hold me" made the sheet music charts. The others didn't chart. I wonder how the titles were picked for these medleys - for this one, it suggests that they were predicting what was new and about to become a hit.

Two of the titles here are a bit more obscure: "Cotton Reel" appears to be "The cotton reel" by Pat Murphy, Leslie Herbert & David Cameron, published by Ascherberg Hopwood & Crew. "Melody" could be quite a difficult title to check, but I would hazard a guess that it's the same side recorded at around that time by Victor Silvester on Columbia F.B. 3660. Edward Kassner is shown as a publisher on both labels. Rudy Sachs is the composer, I believe. Published 16 September 1952 (from the Catalog of Copyright Entries 1952, available on Google Books).

Do you mean the video image displayed when it's not playing - Part 2? When played, the video shows both labels during the relevant sides, and the A-side (Part 1) looks the same as the one added above.

Judging by the matrix numbers, these sides were recorded in early 1948 in the UK. However, they were not issued there. So far, I'm not aware of other Moreton and Kaye recordings unissued in their home country.

Side 2 is from Part 2 of the British release Tin Pan Alley Medley - No. 55.

Interesting to note that the Australian Tin Pan Alley series didn't correspond with the British series in terms of numbering, and on releases like this one, they actually split the couplings up - I presume there are other such examples.

The Parlophone label listing I have says the sides were recorded 28.11.44 and 8.11.44, I think the latter is probably a typo and they are both from 28.11.44.
