USA
Philadelphia label founded in 1946 by Ivan (Irving) Ballen, who also owned the Apex label. By 1948, he acquired New York's Gotham Records from Sam Goody. It was Earl Bostic's contract he was interested in, and Gotham soon became a more popular imprint to the detriment of 20th Century.
