Biography - Apex Canada Canadian label owned by Compo Co. Starting in Sept. 1921, it released US masters from OKeh (4000 series), Gennett (9000 series, ending in early 1925), and, from 1922, Regal and Banner (8000 series). Compo's own recordings were released in a 500 series. There was also a Gennett series running from 499 downwards. From 1932-1943, the label was discontinued, then restarted releasing Canadian pop. The 76xxx Specialty Series started in June, 1953. The last known shellac (vinyl) 78rpm record ought to be 76644 in 1959. (The series continues as 7" 45rpm records in to the 60s as far as 76999).
