These records were originally produced by The New York Recording Laboratories (NYRL) of Port Washington, Wisconsin and the Bridgeport Die & Machine Company (B. D. & M. Company) for sale by the May Company and other department stores. BDMC went bankrupt in 1925, NYRL in 1932.
