Biography - Capitol Australia The flagship label of the Australian Record Company (ARC), the first four records were released 9 August, 1951, and have "First Release" printed at the top of the label - example. Children's records were introduced in October, 1953, and came with picture sleeves. After EMI acquired US Capitol in 1955, ARC were given ~6 months before the label had to change hands. EMI's first records were released in February, 1956. ARC purchased the rights to US Columbia and began releasing their new flagship label: Coronet. DISCOGRAPHY A great discography can be found at www.globaldogproductions.net. CP 10" Series ARC series starting at CP001 to CP-447. EMI introduced the CP-1000 series in February 1956, but also re-released former ARC records using their previous number. CK 10" Series Childrens series introduced in October, 1953.
