Biography - Heliodor    Germany

Heliodor (originally a name for a precious stone), was a subsidiary label by the German Gramophone Company (Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft, DGG) in Germany, with it´s main label POLYDOR.
It was launched in the year 1956 to support young and unknown artists, singers, groups or orchestras. Some well known artists released also some records under the use of pseudonym-names. Examples: Bob Parker (Bert Kaempfert Orchestra).
In 1958, the DGG Company made some contracts with american recording-artists and DGG had the copyrights to release some US-Artist in Germany on the Heliodor-Label, like Everly Brothers, Andy Williams, The Chordettes, Fabian, Frankie Avalon, Del Shannon, Johnny and the Hurricanes, Eddie Hodges, and some others.
Heliodor-Label also released some classical recordings in the 1960s.
