From March 1921, the American Odeon Corporation released records under the Odeon label; an Od20000 series (1921-1922) offered popular music recorded at the OKeh studios in New York whereas reissues of Classical and opera music in 12" and 10 3/4" bore the prefix Am-. From January 1922, production was taken over by Otto Heinemann's General Phonograph Corporation, New York, which also produced OKeh records. In October 1926, the Columbia Phonograph Co. acquired both the Odeon and the OKeh label. Until 1931, it continued to produce ethnic records under the Odeon label, but they were now marked as products of the OKeh Phonograph Corporation, New York. For a brief time, 1929-1930, Odeon also sold a pop music series with an ONY-prefix.
