Biography - Paramount USA Record label produced in Grafton, WI between late 1917 and August 1932. Originally produced by the United Phonographs Corporation of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the first releases were 9.5" vertically cut discs with black labels. In 1918, the company changed its name to The New York Recording Laboratories, subsidiary of the Wisconsin Chair Company, and started producing regular 10" discs on blue labels. The earliest labels show the eagle perched on a phonograph and say "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." above the label name "Paramount." Around August 1920, the phonograph was replaced with a globe and patent phrase with "Trade Mark Registered."
