Biography - Pathé UK Between May 1902 and June 1907 cylinders and single sided discs were marketed in Britain. In July 1907 double sided 11 inch discs were introduced, with 8½ inch discs being introduced in September 1907. 10 inch discs were introduce in November 1908 and continued to be issued until January 1916. The earliest types of Pathé disc have engraved centres, are centre start and vertically cut. Diamond discs (see here) started in January 1915 commencing at number 1. In May 1916 the label name was changed to Pathé Diamond Disc, and in December 1918 the series ended with number 0428. There are two types of paper label Pathé. The first is known as the Rooster label, and was released between Nov 1917 and Dec 1918, with Cat. Nos. 20001 to 20896. The second Pathé series, generally know as the 'scroll label' (the title and artist details appear within a scroll type pattern), was first published in September 1919, starting at 1001. The first 121 numbers had previously been released as Diamond disc". Records were manufactured at West Drayton, Middlesex and appear to be rim start, vertical cut and 10.5" diameter approx.
