Biography - Recorded In Hollywood USA Label Story John Dolphin's first label ,originally to make local recordings to sell in his busy Los Angeles record shop. In 1951 he signed a licencing deal with Sid Nathan of King Records. Nathan needed to keep in touch with what was selling in the race market and Dolphin's expertise was appreciated. Recorded in Hollywood artists and songs got further exposure on Federal records. When Don Pierce was befriended by Dolphin, the label became dormant and the two co-operated by opening a new label "Hollywood" with the intention that Pierce should take complete control. In January 1954 Pierce announced that he was sole owner of the Hollywood label and 140 of its master recordings obtained after a stock purchase from Dolphin and was entering into a interchange/lease agreement with Decca for mutually agreed R&B masters. Pierce was previously with 4-Star which had a similar agreement for Country Music masters with Decca Dolphin was then free to open his Cash and Money labels « Discography Edit This Biography : Biography Credits
