Original owner was Freddy Mendelsohn. Herman Lubinsky of Savoy Records bought a partnership in 1948. In June 1949 Lubinsky bought the label outright and plans to run the company releasing Race Records rather than Pop .He began with the Red Labelled 1000 sries in mid 1949
A month later Mendelsohn opened his Merit label and somehow is again associated with Regal in partnership with Dave & Jules Braun, owners of the troubled DeLuxe label and this trio seem to have taken over the running of Regal again. Mendelsohn has always been associated with Savoy so its guessed that Lubinsky was still main owner of Regal
The Brauns co-operation pact with Syd Nathan is souring, and in September 1949 Nathan agrees to split from DeLuxe stating that future Deluxe masters will be released on the Regal label and King will retain the rights to material already released up to that date.The talent roster of DeLuxe and Regal will be adjusted accordingly and King will still be manufacturing both labels
