Biography - Rex    UK

Rex records were established in the UK in September 1933 by the Crystalate Gramophone Record Manufacturing Company, but taken over by Decca in March 1937. The first record was numbered 8001. The label was discontinued in February 1948, with the last release number 10241.

The first Rex label type has black lions on a gold background and was used for Rex 8001-8046. The next label type, starting with 8047, has golden lions on a black field and a quite different design.
