Run by James Hobart "Jim" Stanton in Johnson City, Tennessee, from 1946 to ca. 1953; in late 1951, Stanton moved the label to Campbellsville, KY. Aug 1952 amalgamated with Acme Records.Famous for recording the emerging bluegrass sound of the decade after World War II, but also releasing other genres of music, from honky tonk country, to early rockabilly, piano boogies, gospel, and even some rhythm and blues.
