Biography - Royale

Budget label owned by Eli Oberstein.
Founded in 1939 as a subsidiary of Oberstein's United States Record Corporation, Royale reissued European-recorded Classical music until it went bankrupt in 1940.
In 1948, Oberstein revived both Royale and its sister label Varsity, now under the aegis of the Wright Record Corporation, and used Royale to re-issue many masters of the former Majestic label.
